"Laura!"
It was only when Amanda shook me, the dizzy feeling that had taken total control of my mind faded. The moment the strange spell broke, I felt exhausted and overwhelmed by surprise.
"Yes?" I whispered with a wide open mouth. He had the same dark blue eyes, the same dark hair and the same lean yet strong build. How could this man look so similar to the one I saw in my nightmares?
"Laura?" Amanda called out again, drawing her brows together. "Are you fine?"
I shook my head. I was not okay. This was not okay. But I didn't want her to worry. "I'm fine." I lied, quickly trying to get a hold of myself.
"What's he doing to your car?" I asked, just for the sake of asking. My mind was still engaged in an internal debate of science vs weird stuff, and no side was winning.
"Laura you sure you're alright?" Amanda said.
"Yes. Why?" I wished I'd better acting skills. One glance at Amanda was enough for me to know my lies weren't working.
"Because he said he could repair the car and you yourself asked him to check out what's wrong with it, despite your stranger-avoiding habit. And now you're acting as if you just had an attack of Alzheimer's disease."
"Oh yes, I remember. Sorry. It's just that I was busy thinking." I lied. The only thing I remembered was him brushing my cheek and calling me his sweetheart. The thought caused a strange fuzzy feeling inside my stomach, but also sent a chill up my spine.
No, this couldn't happen. There was no law in universe that could support the paranormality of this event. Premonition wasn't a proven thing, and perhaps...yes I must've had seen this guy somewhere.
While my mind was on a marathon to prove that the situation was perfectly explainable, if not logical, Amanda's mind was at something extremely different.
She continued giving me an odd look until something sparked in her eyes. "Busy thinking? Oh now I know why you're acting so weird!" Amanda couldn't stop giggling.
"You're in love with Sebastian!" she said with dreamy eyes.
"Sebastian who?" I said as fast as I could after controlling my urge to scream and run like a lunatic. The guy before me looked the same as the protagonist of my dreams, and he shared the same name.
And had my mind acting weird because I'd met him somewhere in reality, and the memory was still somewhere inside me, very much alive, I still had good reasons to think of the paranormal.
The Mark that had formed on my hand wasn't a product of my imagination. Though not for long enough for my brain to accept its presence, it had indeed lingered on my skin. The Demon's Mark had vanished and so had the pain, but in that one moment, when Sebastian had approached me, the agony I'd felt then had resurfaced.
One way or another, it made perfect sense for me to acknowledge the fact that something in the air was not right. Demons are no joke, Laura, and they're coming. My father's words rang in my head, making it spin faster and faster.
"Sebastian who? You're making it too obvious, Laura." Amanda giggled, and poked me in stomach. "It's high time you found a new boyfriend. Mmm...He looks yummy."
Ignoring Amanda's horrifyingly cannibalistic expressions, I focused on the ridiculous thoughts that were tearing my brain apart.
"I'll be back in a while. I gotta call Charlie," Amanda said loudly. Then whispering in my ears so only I could hear, she said, "Go on hon, this boytoy's all yours."
