AUTHOR'S NOTE

First of all, I must apoligise for updating venator after nearly a month.

I had final exams and only after April 2, I can start updating more frequently. Also, I had my first big writing block. Perhaps because of exams and studies some minor points, which would've set the course of the story, must've had gotten lost from my mind. So I was stuck at Behemut's Ruins for a long long time. But now it's been taken care of. No worries.

I hope you are enjoying the tale. Only a few chapters left ( 5-7 maybe ) and then book 1 of Venator series will be done ^_^

Here's a very quick recap :

In search of his aunt, Sebastian arrives at Motel Risotto to finalize a deal with his worst enemy, Delroy. Things happen and they're teleported to Behemut's Ruins ( the cavern ) where, again, things happen and Sebastian is forced to do the Dance of Dead Kings art. A mysterious angel then wars against equally mysterious Anahita (while in Laura's body ) who drives the angel away.

So here's what happens next.

"Aaah." Sebastian yelled. He was going through such agony the likes of which even the punished souls of hell wouldn't have had ever experienced. The burning and aching wasn't all he had been feeling since what seemed like eons now. A vibrant resonating note also began to tear the insides of his psyche. He couldn't take it anymore.

"Are we awake, Bastian?"

There was little probability that Sebastian knew this man. Yet the existence of this strange person of his probably darkest nightmare didn't surprise him. In fact, he seemed to be quite familiar.

On opening an eye, Sebastian realized he was shrouded in an ocean of darkness. He wasn't in his best conditions. Now that his ability of vision had returned, he could see and what he saw frightened him.

A huge iron cross supported his dying self. Nails dug into his skin and kept him bound to the cross. Streams of blood adorned his bare body. A cut went deep on his cheek and a much bigger one ran along his stomach. Another cut had torn his left eye.

Thick sharp chains propagating hellish agony kept his nearly lifeless form bound to the Devil's Cross. They grazed him, pierced through him, and were a reason for the source of several minor cuts and crimson streams. The coppery smell of blood made him feel worse. Yet the smell was somehow comforting. He was still human.

"Do you like the pain?" The voice said, calmly but firmly.

Not exactly being in his right condition, Sebastian had assumed the voice from before to be nothing more than some sort of imagination. Now, he was certain that a strange presence lurking in the shadows was giving him unrequested company. The question made him raise his head and more blood flowed through the cuts in his neck. At first, he'd reckoned him to be a ghastly powerful demon, a creature of his recurring nightmares. But the man who stood before him had not a speck of black in his eyes. He had vibrant green eyes which didn't quite feel demonic, dark indeed but not evil. Though not sinister, his gaze seemed piercing and ancient.

"Thanos?" Sebastian whispered.

"That's not the answer to my question. Yes or no, do you like the pain?" Thanos asked.

Most of him still lurked in the infinity of shadows that flickered and danced around Sebastian. Only his soul-piercing eyes could be seen. The firm gaze made him feel weak and incompetent, overpowered.
