If you haven't finished reading the story, please leave immediately. Lot of SPOILERS on this page!!!
Hello guys, the first draft of Venator Devil's Moon is now completed. I'm going to edit the whole thing, but it will take time (3 months maybe) and that'd be the final edit as far as wattpad is concerned.
Now 3 months is a big time, and I'm aware that some things (related to the plot) need immediate clarification.
This FAQ page is meant for you to understand the tale properly. I'm new to writing (even if it's been a long while since I started), and hence the things that go in my mind may not have been transferred to this screen completely. Hence, to clarify all your doubts, I've decided to make this FAQ page.
Here you can ask me anything about the tale. Things that didn't make much sense, or things that require more clarification and stuff.
¶ Who or what exactly are the Moons?
I feel terrible that I have to explain you this concept this way. I had hoped the meaning would be clear by the end of the book, but because of my amateur writing, I doubt that many if you might have grasped what Moons really are.
That said, I had also wanted this to be a secret until book 2. But it doesn't make sense that a book is named Devil's Moon, and the writer is unable to explain who or what Devil's Moon is.
So here's the theory behind it (which I'll be including in book 1 while editing)
Since ancient times the world has always been divided into two sides: the light, and the dark. Personally I feel that there's not much difference in the two. Both sides are hungry for power. Now God and Satan are God knows where. I had intended to introduce these highly hidden beings by the end of book 3, but decided it was best to leave them out of the story (quite a sensitive topic).
During those times, there was no development in nuclear technology. And hence people were forced to rely on spiritual things. There were advancements in black magic, and stuff common society of today frown upon, and two powerful beings were created (through repeated blood rituals).
The Devil's Moon, and the Angel's Moon were thus created, and their creators believed that only through them the Satan or Michael can be summoned. (the logic for that is mentioned in the dusty scriptures I'm busy deciphering right now. So that info will have to wait until book 3)
These Moons are not physical beings. They are consciousness. They don't have a physical form and hence are always in need of a vessel. Melissa and Anahita were the rulers of two powerful clans of the Hunter Society, and hence they were eligible vessels. That explains why Melissa and Anahita prevailed for almost three centuries (and people started assuming that they were some kind of deities).
Now Laura was a much more eligible candidate, so Devil's Moon left (or rather killed) Melissa/Clara and made herself comfortable within Laura's special mental apartment.
I hope that explains some stuff now. More of it will be dealt in book 2.
¶ Who are the Deathstones?
For now, let's just say the Deathstones form a secret society. They had great role in the past politics of Casstelia, but not so much now. As the name suggests, this isn't an original society. They were formed when few scholars among the Deathstars exchanged their views with few scholars among the Livestones.
¶ The War of the Moons
Since we know the Moons had sort of possessed (not exactly) Melissa and Anahita for more than three centuries, we can refer to the three famous wars from the Casstelian history as the Moon wars. The existence of the Moons was known to no one initially, and hence the common folk of the Hunter Society know these wars simply as civil wars (between the Deathstars and the Livestones).
Since Angel's Moon and Devil's Moon were made to destroy each other, the rivalry between Melissa and Anahita (normal leaders of the Deathstars and the Livestones) became pronounced ever since they fused with the Moons.
Soon wars were waged, three to be precise.
The first war saw a town-scale damage, and it was nothing compared to the damage causef because of the second war where Valeris, the earlier capital of hunters, was wiped off the face of earth. It was then the capital was shifted to Casstelia.
The third one was going to be catastrophic. However, the Deathstones intervened. They believed that if the leaders of these two powerful clans loved catfight so much, it wouldn't be a surprise if the hunter society was wiped from existence. Hence they decided to take matters in their own hands. They did some research, and realised the existence of the Moons wasn't a myth but a reality.
As stated in the previous chapter, they interrupted the third war between the Moons (after they were weakened because of the war). They sealed Devil's Moon, and for some reason (which I'll tell in book 2,okay I'll tell this much - something related to a prophecy), decided to help Angel's Moon.
It was necessary for the Angel's Moon to stay hidden since she'd contributed a lot of her powers to complete the sealing of the Devil's Moon, which meant only she'd be able to undo the sealing (and many other reasons). Since no physical place was good enough for hiding, it was decided that she'd take shelter in someone's psyche (since no would really think of this).
However, she possessed so much power that it was impossible to put all that stress on only one psyche. So seven members decided to volunteer.
Six Deathstones then managed to absorb almost half of Angel's Moon. It was impossible to squeeze the other half of her in only one entity.
Then a member suggested that if they put the rest half in a baby, since the baby's psyche will still be growing, it'd be able to grow big enough to accommodate all that power. Yes, the one who suggested this was a pregnant lady, Laura's mother.
(Damn, I'm giving away a lot of info ain't I)
That's when sweet, innocent, baby Laura came into picture.
¶ The sixty year gap
All this happened sixty years ago (the third war happened sixty years ago). Then why isn't Laura an actual sixty year old nun?
This is what happened. Let's form two groups.
A) the other six members:
As time went, these six members grew older and weaker. They passed their Angel's Moon piece to their children. They made it a point that these children would never know anything of the hunter world, and sent them to normal world. (an added layer of security for our angelic guest).
These seven people lived normal life, and gave birth to seven beautiful blondies, each of which unknowingly possessed a piece of Angel's Moon. Yes, Lucy, Catherine Chase, Diana Williams are some of these young beauties.
B) Laura
Laura's case was a bit complicated. For others, since a small fraction of Angel's Moon was involved, psychic tension wasn't severe. Laura wasn't so fortunate. The other half of Angel's Moon which for forcefully squeezed inside her psyche threatened to explode. Angel's Moon had to conduct another spellwork, and Laura was trapped in a seal for sixty big years. In other words, she was a baby for sixty years.
Later the seal weakened, and she was released at the Hannigan residence.
(yes this part sounds strange. So I'm going to work on this theory)
¶ When will I start with the sequel?
Probably around October. I'm still finalising the plot, so it'll take time. Besides, I intend to complete the editing of this book before moving onto the sequel.
Have any other questions?
Please comment your questions and I'll answer you ASAP!Also, please wish me luck. I need to put all that information in the story, and make sure nowhere I make an infodump. That's a lot of work *sighs*
