"Sebastian, what are you doing there?" Laura shouted from her balcony. She eyed at him curiosly.
"Nothing. Just bringing the rest of the stuff." He pointed to Pamela's bag which sat on the back side and quickly slid his phone back in the jeans.
"I'll be right back." He said while ducking into the chevy.
Then he carried that bag and went back inside the house, his mind constantly thinking about Delroy's call. Was making a deal with a demon wise? He wondered. But no matter what he thought, he knew he couldn't send Delroy back with empty hands. Tonight he'd have to either betray Laura or there'll be a terrible battle. And he wasn't too sure he'd turn the wind to his side.
With those thoughts, he accidentally dashed into Laura who had been coming downstairs.
"Oww!" she yelled when Sebastian happened to step on her feet.
"Sorry. You okay?" Sebastian asked.
"Dude, are you okay? You seem a bit distracted." Laura said.
"It's nothing. Driving can get pretty tiring. I think I'll sleep now." Sebastian excused.
Laura wondered whether Sebastian was ill. Never did he complain about driving, even if he had to sit in the same spot for days together. He enjoyed it. Laura asked whether he wanted to eat anything or not. Then she hurried downstairs. However, Sebastian suddenly gripped her hand. She looked at him, surprise gleaming in her eyes.
"Laura, be careful." Sebastian said and before Laura would ask for details, he disappeared in one of the rooms upstairs. The place wasn't an actual motel but a little efforts could result in a stream of money to Uncle Sam.
Sebastian went in the bathroom and splashed some water on his face. The water cleaned the dust, the sweat off his face. But it also resurfaced the risky decision he'd taken recently. How could he make a deal involving Laura?
He took a towel and mopped his face. He sat on the bed, looking at his reflection in the mirror.
He hadn't changed from outside; not in the slightest. His hair were, as usual, messy. His untrimmed beard was rough and a cut adorned his chin. His eyes radiated the same darkness and grief as before, though to Laura, a tinge of light she saw rising through Sebastian sometimes was a new feature to his deep blue eyes. He noticed he was looking a bit angry, which was another factor that hasn't been changed. Sebastian simply didn't know how to be cheerful.
And given what his mind was brewing up currently, how could he look happy? His uncle wanted Aunt Jane back. He wanted her back. And this desire of reuniting with his aunt blinded Sebastian momentarily. He didn't realise Uncle Rob's discussion about Delroy was wrong. He didn't realise making a deal with a demon was wrong. Instead, he thought what he was doing was in the best interests of all. Of all except Laura. His brain reminded.
How could he be so blind? How could he betray Laura?
But it was too late for thinking about such things. Delroy knew where they were and was probably coming down with his men, well, demon-men.
He couldn't let his emotions grab the best of him. Emotions, feelings make one weak, he believed. And if he wanted to make things work tonight, undo his one mistake that could lead to unimaginably massive catastrophe, he'd to take things with brain tonight.
Removing his shirt, he slipped beneath a slim blanket. He needed rest but he couldn't sleep. As soon as his eyes closed, the thoughts about Delroy started haunting him.
Sebastian hadn't accepted Uncle Rob's earnest request blindly, to be honest. He had a plan. He'd decided to betray everyone tonight and make things work in his interest. But attempting to perish the demon who had destroyed his family all those years ago, singlehandedly, Sebastian knew he was jumping right into Death's mouth.
