You Gotta Love Life... Right?

Chapter 15

Last Friday Maddi went out with Adam again. This Friday he is coming over.

Me: If he's a jerk I'll kill him.

Kira: I'll help. If he sleeps over he's sharing with Maddi.

Me: Ew, he better not sleep over.

Morgan: You dirty minded creature! Give him a chance.

"Guys!" Maddi exclaims, "He is not sleeping over –sadly- and he's super nice –and super hot- so get over it!"

Ten minutes later he is ushered inside by a very excited Maddi, "Um, hi everyone." He says nervously, smiling.

He has dirty blonde hair, hazel eyes and a shy smile. He's a small build but a little taller than Maddi. And yeah, he was a little hot.

"Hi," Morgan gets off the couch and shakes his hand, "I'm Morgan, this is Kira, and that," She points over Kira's head to me sitting on the counter with a game controller in my hand, "is Emma."

"Oh, I'm a 'that' now, am I?" I tease, "You're Adam I assume?" I ask, waving to him in a kind of salute.

He laughs, "Last time I checked, yes."

"Ha, you can keep him Maddi, he's funny. Hope you're not allergic to cats." I add as Phosphorus hops off my lap and weaves around Adam's legs.

"Nope, I have a few at home myself." He smiles down at the orange ball of fur sitting on his foot, "I guess this is Fuzzy?"

"Or Phosy, but really it's Phosphorus." Kira says the doorbell rings, "Sorry, we have a lot of visitors some days."

I was expecting Deacon, but instead it's an older man with curly brown hair, "Hi Dad." Morgan says.

"Hi. Can I talk to you?" He looks around the room, "Maybe outside?"

"Sure." She walks out the door with a quick glance back, I give her an encouraging smile as the door closes behind them.

"So..." Maddi's voice breaks through the awkward silence, "What would you like to discover about our lives, Adam?"

"Um, what about a tour?" He suggests.

"Okay! Well, this is the living room and kitchen..."

This might be a good idea to input some details. So, imagine a single person Toronto apartment. The main room has a sofa and coffee table in it, not to mention a TV and two gaming systems (Wii and Xbox). The kitchen is just off of that, next to the front door, with a small kitchen table and food all over the counters. A door in the living room leads to the bedroom, into which is crammed a double bed, two single beds, and an air mattress, as well as three dressers and a duffel bag. The bathroom is connected to the bedroom, it's just full of cosmetics and linens, as well as a small cat stand that is actually being used as a shelf at the moment. Back out in the main room which is connected to the kitchen, there is a small balcony that looks out over the city. I know, crazy right? Plus, you have to add all the stuff four people would own and then a bit more, because we're teenagers. Yep. We live here.

Maddi walks back into the main room when the tour is over, "What next?"

'How about... The features of this complex? I mean, I heard it has a restaurant-cafeteria thing and a pool..."

"Okay! C'mon." She give us a silly smile as they leave, and as they turn the corner I see Adam grab Maddi's hand and lace their fingers together.

"She's gonna have stores to tell when she gets back." Kira laughs, "Come and play Minecraft while we wait."

"Okay!" I jump off my perch from the counter and turn my controller back on, sitting myself on the couch beside her. Phosphorus jumps onto my lap and occupies himself by playing with Kira's hair.

"Oh stop!" She batts him out of the way while he tries to climb onto her shoulder, "Go away!"

He gives her a stare that says try and stop me before curling up in her lap and purring softly, "Fine," She mutters, "You're lucky I love cats."
