Keep them safe

3rd Person POV

"Let go of Jake and Libby!" Said Sophia.
"I'm taking them somewhere safe. If they stay here, God knows what will happen to them!" Said Stephen. Sophia took the babies off him and put them back in their cots.
"What do you mean something bad will happen to them? There safe here, with their family." Said Sophia, losing her patients.
"Sophia, you have to trust me. They're after you and the others." Begged Stephen.
"Why would I trust you? Do you have any idea how much you've hurt me and my family?" Whispered Sophia, trying not to wake up everyone else.
"That was the past, this is the present. I'm not being kind because I'm related to Dec. I'm being kind because I've realised my mistakes and I've learnt from them. I love you and the others as family. I want to be part of this." Said Stephen. Even though it was pitch dark, Sophia could sense that he was crying. Maybe he was the good guy now? Sophia told herself.
"Who's after us then? Tell me, then I might change my mind!" Said Sophia, deciding whether she should forgive him.
"Melissa." Said Stephen.
"But Melissa has been really good to me?" Said Sophia, getting really confused.
"To you she has. Not to Dec or the others. And before you say, I didn't tell Melissa to hurt Dec when he was in hospital, it was all her." Said Stephen.
"What do I have to do to keep my family unhurt by Melissa?" Asked Sophia.
"Just keep them close and love them like you always do. Don't lose sight of them, and always be next to them. Keep them safe. But most importantly, keep your eyes peeled and look at every corner. She wants something from you." Said Stephen.
"I always do that though? There must be something that I have to do, apart from doing what I do normally?" Questioned Sophia.
"You're a very clever girl, Sophia. You'll figure it out when it comes down to it." Said Stephen. He left the room after that.
"Wait! Stephen! Come back!" Yelled Sophia. But he didn't come back.
"Sophia. What are you doing up at this time!" Asked Dec, slowly waking up.
"Stephen was here. I was just talking to him." Said Sophia.
"Why was Stephen here? Did he hurt you or do something! Did he hurt Libby or Jake?!" Asked Dec getting mad.
"You know what, I was probably just imagining it." Said Sophia going back into bed.
"Good. Now give me some peace." Yawned Dec. He fell fast asleep. Now everyone was back asleep again, apart from Sophia. So many thoughts went through her head. She started to ask herself questions. Is Stephen lying? Was he actually there or was I just imagining it? What is Melissa going to do to us? Why do I have to keep a look out for danger? What is she after and what does she want from me? She stayed awake all night, on the floor, trying to cry herself to sleep. Sophia started to hear footsteps once again.
"Ouch!" Cried Sophia. She felt someone trip over her.
"Sophia? What are you doing on the floor?" Asked Ant. Sophia didn't say a word.
"Sophia?" Said Ant, picking up his daughter and sitting her on his lap. Sophia burst into a flood of tears.
"Stephen came here and told me." Cried Sophia.
"Stephen! What did he do to you? Did he hurt you!" Asked her father.
"No. He said that Melissa is out to hurt us all. And she's after me daddy. I think she wants me dead, daddy!" Cried Sophia hugging her dad.
"Don't listen to Stephen. He's lying to you." Said her dad.
"Like you and Dec are lying to me. Dad, do you love Dec like you used to love mummy?" Said Sophia, who had stopped crying and just wanted to know the truth.
"No, I don't. I love mummy not Dec. That's why I'm with mummy and that's why we're a family. That's why we have you and the twins." Said Ant.
"Then why did you kiss him on the lips like you do with mummy?" Asked Sophia.
"Dec loves me ok! I don't love him, I only kiss him because he wants me to." Lied Ant and Sophia believed him and decided to tell her mum first thing in the morning. Ant didn't know that Dec listened into the conversation and he believed Ant as well. A tear rolled down Dec's cheek. He didn't want to believe what Ant said but he saw no reason why Ant would lie to his daughter so he was telling the truth. And he would rather know the truth than the lie.

Dec's POV
I woke up three hours later so it was ten o'clock now. I decided to avoid Ant because I knew he didn't love me like I thought he did. Lisa was still asleep and so was Sophia but Ant was awake.
"Morning pet, you ok?" Asked Ant as he walked over to me. I didn't bother to look him in the face.
"Dec? What's wrong?" Said Ant coming over to me and sitting by my side. He moved in closer to me to kiss me but I gave him a quick hug instead. He had a confused look on his face but I didn't care. He doesn't love me so why should I love him back? If he's going to lie and say that he doesn't love me, then I'm going to lie and say that I'm ok and that I'm not mad with him. Even though I am extremely mad with him!
"Nothing is wrong. If something was wrong I would tell you." I lied.
"Do you want a kiss?" Asked Ant teasing me like I was his little baby.
"I want something to eat, I'm hungry." I said complaining.
"Oh ok. We'll just wait for Lisa to wake up and then we can all eat together." Said Ant.
"Great! As one big happy family!" I said sarcastically.
"Exactly!" Said Ant. I think he didn't realise that I was being sarcastic.
"Why don't you love me?" I asked. He turned around and gave me a weird look.
"Say what?" Replied Ant.
"I said why don't you love me? Last night, I heard you tell Sophia that you didn't love me and you still love Lisa." I said.
"Decky! I do love you and Lisa! I just told her that to keep her quiet." Said Ant.
"Wait you love me AND Lisa?!" I said.
"Listen. Even though I'm in love with you, there's a part of me that still loves Lisa." Said Ant, lowering down his voice.
"Well you'd better choose who you want to be with. It's either me or Lisa." I said.
"You can't make me choose right now! I need time to think about it." Said Ant.
"No! You choose now. It's me or Lisa!" I shouted.
"Fine I choose Lisa then! You know why? Because I have a family with her and she wouldn't force me to make a decision like this! She understands me!" Yelled Ant.
"Fine! Be with Lisa! I obviously have people who love me. I obviously have a family as someone to be with!" I yelled.
"I'm so sorry Dec. I completely forgot that. You know I still love you, but you can't just make me decide on stuff like this!" Said Ant starting to cry.
"Come here." I said to Ant. He slowly walked to me and sat down.
"I'm sorry." He said. I put my finger on his lip.
"Shhhhhh. You don't need to say anything. It's my fault." I said. I pushed my lips onto his and we kissed once again.
"I'm choosing you." Mumbled Ant. This made me smile.
"You are?" I say, as soon as our kiss ends.
"I don't care what people think of us. I love you and nothing can change that!" Said Ant.
"Really?" I Ask.
"Really." Said Ant, holding on to my hand.
"What about Lisa, and your children. How will you tell them?" I asked.
"I hadn't thought of that. But we'll figure something out, don't worry. But all I know is that I want to be with you. Will you be my boyfriend Decky?" Asked Ant, with his cheeks flushing.
"I'd love to, but Lisa and your kids?" I asked again.
"I said don't worry about them. Everything will be ok." Said Ant as we kiss again.
