Akira's POV
"Wake up, Aki-chan!" someone said. "Time to wake up!"
Again?
I opened my eyes and saw the nurse and Tsukishima-kun looking down at me from the side of my bed.
"What?" I asked groggily, still in a sleepy daze. Nurse-chan just laughed at laughed at how clueless I must have looked. Yes, laugh at the tiny, poor, hungry, sick girl. Yes.
"Come on," the giant said. "I'm taking you home tonight."
"I'm sorry.. what?" I asked, raising a brow at the blonde. Why the hell was he taking me home? What would that entail? Was I about to be turned into his new pet? Was he going to kidnap be and lock me up in his basement? He was about to keep me captured, leave me in a damp cell, rotting as I starved to deathㅡ
"Not that way," he said, letting out a sigh and rolling his eyes. I suppose the man can read minds now, how lovely for hin.
"Here you go," the nurse said, handing me a small paper bag. "This should last you at least two weeks. Drink one of each everyday." Inside the bag was a variety of vitamins.
"You know I can't afford this," I complained. If I could afford.. No, even if I could afford to buy vitamins, I would probably spend it on something else.
"It's on me. Take care of yourself, okay?" she said with a kind smile, urging me with little hand motions to keep the bag foe myself. She was always too nice to me. "I'll head on out then. Lock the door behind you when you leave, please!"
And with that, she left. It was just me and the tall person.
"Come on," Tsukishima-kun said, stretching his hand out to help me get up
"I can go home on my own," I said as I put my shoes on. "You really don't need to worry about me, I'll be fine."
"Shimizu-senpai is worried about you," he replied. "She told me where you live and it's not that far from my house."
"But-"
"You're still sick and it's getting late. Come on." He went ahead and walked out of the clinic without letting me argue any further. I sighed as I followed him, and we left the school together. We passed by the Foothill Store on the way to the bus stop, walking in silence until we noticed that the volleyball team was inside, along with their coach. My eyes search the place through the windows, Shimizu-san wasn't with them. I guess she went home ahead of the others.
"Tsukki!" the bald one called out to the giant. Everyone else turned and headed out of the store to greet us with wide smiles.
Tsukki? Is that what his friends call him? How adorable. It doesn't suit him.
"Are you feeling alright?" the smallest one asked. He had spiky black hair with a couple blonde streaks in front. He kind of reminded me of those birds from that game with the catapults and pigs and stuff.
"Y-yeah, thank you so much for helping me," I said and bowed to them, feeling awkward as I did.
"It's fine!" another one said, waving his hands to get me to stand up straight again. He had brown hair that was tied back. He was quite tall, and looked quite mature. Wait, is this guy even in high school?!
"Oh here," someone else said. He had silver hair and a warm smile. He handed me an envelope. "The rest of the money from the sales are in there. I was going to give it tomorrow but you're here now!"
"Oh wow," I muttered. I opened it and my heart sank. Tears had welled up in my eyes as I saw contents of the envelope. I felt both scared and ecstatic.
