Akira's POV
The movie was pretty good and everyone enjoyed. Being the weird person I am, I had the boys go back out and buy a couple more buckets of popcorn for me.
My name is Akira and I'm addicted to cheese flavored popcorn. Hi. Nice to meet you.
After the movie, Kageyam and Hinata went off to some public court to practice while Yamaguchi and Yachi went back home. Tsukishima and I walked back to the cafe together.
"Tsu-kun," I said. "Why is Kageyama called the King of the Court?"
"Back in junior high," he started. "He was playing with a good team. He made good sets but had a huge ego. It went on until the time came where no one ran after his toss in the middle of the game. That's how he got titled King, not because he was good but because he treated his team mates like a bunch of peasants."
"Is he still like that?"
"Kind of. He doesn't exactly get along with the team as well as the others but they're convinced that he's getting there."
"What about you?"
"What do you mean?"
"Are you convinced?"
He smirked and put his hands in his pockets.
"I don't particularly like people who are too intense for no reason."
I let out a small laugh and sighed. Kageyama seemed like a nice guy...well, not because he treated me a to a lot of popcorn today. Everyone else from the team seemed like good people, but I guess I still don't know them enough to judge, huh?
"Tsu-kun, why don't you invite your brother to the cafe?" I asked. "They're having a special tonight for college students. It's theme day."
"Sure, why not?"
Nishinoya's POV
I hate Mondays.
It always feels so slow. Every second felt like an hour and every minute felt like a year. Today's lectures were pretty boring and a couple of pop quizzes popped up. Lunch was pretty harsh too. The cafeteria was packed and got sold out of my usual lunch. It started raining right before practice too.
"Oi, why are you looking so gloomy over there?" Tanaka asked, slapping me on the back. "Slow day?"
"It's a Monday, is there really any need to ask?" I said and we both let out a small laugh.
"Shimizu-san isn't around," Hinata said, approaching us. "Where'd she go?"
"She went home early today," coach said. "Now get back to training. We have a practice match tomorrow with a local team."
Everyone went back to doing drills as we usually did. I love volleyball but...
Damn, this is kind of getting boring.
In the middle of practice, some people from the student council visited the gym and made us gather round.
"We'll be having another open ground event in lieu of the sports week," they said. "If a reminded is needed, we'll be having a bunch of mini-tournaments for the students to join in. The sports club will be taking care of the said tournaments in the morning and we'll be having mini-fairs in the afternoons. Some major booths for the mini-fair will be taken care of by two clubs each. The volleyball club has a lot of members so we decided to pair you up with the badminton club."
I gave Tsukishima a nudge on the shoulder while Tanaka wiggled his brow up and down at him, teasing the guy.
"What will we be in charge of?" Daichi asked.
"Uhh, it says here you'll be in charge of serving the guests food. How you'll do that depends on you. You can do the typical maid... uhh, butler cafe or whatever. You'll be coming up with the menu as well."
They ran through everything important from the expenses to the opening and closing times. We had a month. Once they left, everyone went back to doing drills while thinking about ideas for the events.
"Hold on," Yamaguchi said. "Aki-chan works at a cafe and she's part of the badminton club. That makes things easier, right?"
"Yeah, but she has that tournament coming up, right?" Asahi said. "That's in less than a month. Between her practices and planning, we can't rely on her for everything."
"I can't believe that girl even plans to learn a sport in one month," Coach followed before letting out a sigh. "She's incredibly out of shape and is already exhausted from those jobs she's been doing."
"She's still doing jobs other than her weekend shifts at the cafe?"
"Oh yes! She's been the talk of the faculty office," Take-sensei said. "She's incredibly smart! Her grades are mostly perfect! And she's done so much work here for the school, helping out teachers do some extra work or helping class representatives."
"Exactly what kind of jobs does she take anyways?" Hinata asked.
"Well, as far as I know, she tutors kids during Sunday mornings at the nearby preschool. She sometimes helps out in hard labor jobs like painting houses. Every once in a while, she babysits the staffs' kids or pets. If she's been able to live that way for a long time, I'm sure she'll be even better in the future."
Everyone was staring at Take-sensei, not believing a word he was saying. Daichi suddenly broke into laughter.
"It's amazing how a small girl like Akira can do so much," he said, taking a ball in his hands. "Maybe you should try to do even half as good as her, Kageyama, Hinata."
The two first years let out a sigh before resuming their drills.
Wow, she has a lot going on, huh? It must get pretty tiring, but maybe exhilarating. I really do love volleyball, but what else is there to my life other than volleyball and the team?
