"I wanted to tell you earlier but-" I begin.

"But he told you that I was mad at him for sleeping with me just because he thought you didn't want him." Amy finishes.

"How did you-?"

"I know Shawn. He isn't one to keep a lot of things from you, that's for sure." She gives me a small smile.

"I'm sorry if you ever liked him." I look away.

Amy laughs. "You know Shawn and I, we just wouldn't have worked anyways. We've tried before."

"Yeah, you're right." I nod.

"I'm happy you two are finally together." Amy pats my hand that's resting on the table.

"Thanks Amy, you're a good friend." I smile at her.

"That's what I'm here for. I will replace Shawn for you whilst he's gone. I promise." She reads my mind.

After we've eaten and Amy dropped me off back home, I decided to catch up on my schoolwork. There was a lot, but I managed to be all caught up before we had to go to the Mendes'.

All four of us walk over and my mom knocks. I laugh to myself, trying to remember the last time I knocked on this door.

"Hello." Karen opens the door with a grin.

We each greet her and I see Aaliyah in the kitchen. I walk over and tickle her sides.

"Paisley!" She screams.

I laugh and sit on a stool next to her. "How's school been?"

"Shut up." Aaliyah rolls her eyes.

"That was a legitimate question." I shake my head with a smile.

"Do you miss Shawn?" She blurts out.

I'm taken aback by her question. It's only been a day and I have to say I miss him more than anything. "Of course."

"I miss him." She agrees, a silence overcoming us.

"You girls ready to eat?" My mom peaks her head in.

"Yep." We follow her into the dining room. I sit next to Aaliyah with Noah across from me.

We each grab a plate and pile lasagna on, eager to eat.

"So, Paisley, how was California?" Manny asks.

I smile. "It was amazing. I was able to tour Stanford while I was there."

"I hear you got accepted. That's amazing." Karen adds.

"Thanks. I'm excited." I nod.

"Shawn only called us once. That one time was for him to tell me you two were dating." Karen smiles.

Noah spits his water out all over me. I gasp and wipe my face with a napkin. "Noah!"

"Sorry. Can I talk to Paisley in private?" He looks to my mom, who nods. Noah then gets up with his crutches and goes into the living room.

"What was that for?" I glare at him.

"I thought we talked about you and Shawn." Noah looks at me in disappointment.

"I love him." I cross my arms over my chest. "I'm almost 18 and think I know when someone's right for me."

"He's going to hurt you." Noah presses.

"You better man up and get rid of that grudge you have against him. He's not going away." I roll my eyes.

"He's away now, isn't he?"
