Hindi maalis ang tingin ko sa babaeng nakaupo sa harap namin ngayon ng mommy ko. Hindi ako makapaniwala sa nangyayari ngayon.

Napalunok ako nang mabaling ang tingin nya sa akin. Pinilit kong ngumiti.

Everything's odd. I don't know how I end up here. I just know that it don't feel good sitting in front of Calix's mom.

"Is he your son, Bea? He's grown too fast." Mom stared at the guy beside Calix's mom.

Tita Bea, Calix's mom, smiled proudly. "He is, this is Kairo, my youngest."

Napatingin ako sa lalaking nakaupo sa harapan ko. He is Calix's brother.

Calix has never mentioned anything about having a brother. Even before we're together, hindi nya nabanggit sa akin na may kapatid sya.

Takhang takha akong nakatingin sa kapatid ni Calix.

Just like Calix, Kairo has a fair complexion. Maliban doon ay kita ang malaking pagkakahawig nilang dalawa. Katulad ni Calix ay gwapo rin ang kapatid nya at matangkad.

This day keeps on surprising me. Una, ngayon ko lang nalaman na my mom and Calix's mom are friends. Mom said they are college friends. That is something that I do not know of. Isa pa, ngayon ko lang rin nalaman na may kapatid si Calix. All this time I thought he's an only child like me.

"Good morning tita Anya." He greeted mom. Nilingon nya rin ako at nginitian.

I hesitantly smiled back at him.

Ilang sandali lang ay dumating ang waiter na may dalang menu. I was so silent the whole time, tita Bea and my mom kept on talking and catching up, ngayon lang siguro sila nagkita after a long time.

I still can't just believe that they're friends. Mommy told me yesterday that she's going to introduce me to her friend.

Little did mommy know that I already met her friend back then and she had once threatened me.

"Naya and Kairo, hijo. Why don't you kids go out for a while. Mamasyal around the mall. Alam ko namang mabobore lang kayo dito listening to us." Nakangiting sabi ni mommy.

Agad akong napabalik sa wisyo nang marinig kong magsalita si mommy. She was smiling at us.

"You're right. Go ahead mga anak, mamasyal masyal muna kayong dalawa." Pagdagdag pa ng mom ni Calix.

Agad naman akong sumunod sa gusto nila. I really need to get out of there. Hindi maganda ang pakiramdam ko sa mom ni Calix. Lumabas kami ni Kairo sa restaurant. Nagpaalam narin ako kay mommy na baka hindi na ako bumalik at dumiretso nalang sa school.

There was an awkard silence as we walked, we decided to just go to the mall near the restaurant.

"So, you stayed in states for like fifteen years." I tried to open a conversation. "You basically grew up there."

Kairo smiled at me. "Yeah, I did. Pero sa tingin ko, we'll be staying here in the Philippines now."

"Buti sanay ka parin magtagalog, no?" I said.

Kairo chuckled. "Though I grew up in America, I still see to it that we visit here yearly. My brother stays here."

His brother's Calix. I never had any intention to bring up Calix. I thought that there may have been a reason why Calix never had mentioned his brother to me.

Naglakad lakad kami sa loob ng mall, trying to make little conversations. What's odd is that though we only have met just today, agad na napalagay ang loob ko sa kanya. We ended up going to the arcade and play random games there.
