Chapter Fifteen

"I can't believe I almost blew it." Dani whispered in the elevator. "Dani, relax." I said and pulled her to my chest. "I took care of everything." I whispered and she tensed up.

I played with her hair and wanted her to feel better. "We have two days to do anything, we can relax, it will be great." I said and I felt her relax.

"Okay Bucky," she whispered. "You're really good at making me feel better, I don't know what I'd do without you." She said and I squeezed her a little tighter.

That just made my day, "I don't know what I'd do without you." I said

The elevator doors opened and we walked back to our room. Once we got in she changed and sat on the couch. "Bucky, can you carry me to the bed? I'm too tired." She asked out of no where.

I climbed off the bed and picked her up. "You're lucky you're cute." I smiled and she did too. I placed her under the blankets and turned off the lights.

She turned and faced me, "maybe tomorrow we could just sleep." She suggested and closed her eyes.

She was so perfect. I wish I could kiss her, I wish I could take her out on dates and I wish I could take her home. I want her to be mine, but she's not.

"Dani," I whispered and she opened her eyes "yes?"

"You mean the world to me." That was all I could say, I wish that I had the courage to tell her I loved her.

"You're my whole world. And I mean it." She said and grabbed my hand under the blanket.

I've never ever felt like this, I was giddy and my heart was going to explode with joy. I smiled and she did too.

"Night." She whispered.

"Goodnight." I replied and closed my eyes.

Dani had a very worried expression on her face as she shot the enemies. "I could use a little help Barnes." She yelled and I tried to hurry up taking out the guards

"Im a little busy!" I shouted back and finished my work. I was on my last punch when I heard her cry out

I immediately turned to her and she was on the ground, I ran over to her and dropped onto my knees. She was shot, she was bleeding so fast through her stomach.

"Bucky?" She asked and I applied pressure on it and she cried.

"No, no, no hold on hold on, please Dani."

She started coughing up blood on herself and I pulled her onto my chest.

"No Dani you can't leave me, I have so much to say to you." I started to cry and she used her last amount of strength to pull me down to kiss her.

She pulled away and smiled. "I have, loved you... since the first time you and I met." I smiled and kissed her again.

"I love you too, I always thought I'd be the one to say it first." I admitted and she let out a shaky breath.

"Don't ever give up avenging, promise me." She said, she was dying, she was almost gone.

"I promise." I said and she smiled and closed her eyes. "No, no, please, we have things to do together, please, NOOO!" I screamed

I opened my eyes and immediately checked on Dani, she was peacefully sleeping. She stirred then rolled over to me, she opened her eyes and looked concerned.

"What's wrong Buck?" She asked with a sleepy voice. "Nothing," I said and she rubbed my arm. "Why do you lie to me, I'm trying to help."

"Fine. It was a nightmare, you died and it was on me. Happy?" I snapped at her and she hugged me.

"I'm sorry it's just-" I wanted to apologize but she cut me off. "It's not your fault Bucky I know you didn't mean it."

She leaned in and kissed my forehead and cheek, I was hoping she'd kiss my lips but that was a long shot.

She then leaned back down and cuddled against me. "Am I being too pushy?" She asked.

"Definitely not." I said and felt heat on my cheeks.

I woke up and checked on Dani, she was still asleep but opened her eyes after a couple minutes.

"How long have you been awake?" She asked. "Couple of minutes." I answered,

She barely had any blanket on her because I had it all so she pulled some more over herself. "Sorry I stole all the blanket." I said and she shrugged.

"It's okay, I don't care, that meant I got to cuddle closer to you."

I was a little speechless. I kissed her head and wrapped an arm around her. She put an arm on my chest and was playing with the place my metal arm meets my skin.

"I remember them putting the arm on me" I mumbled.

She stayed silent but kept her arm on it. "They were going to kill me off, that's until the doctor created it. I remember them debating on whether or not it would work."

"I'm sorry it had to happen to you." She said.

"I know, you're a very polite person. I wish I knew you back in the 40's, so that I knew you before all this post-syrum me, you would've loved me."

"I love you as this Bucky, don't think about things like that or you'll never be happy." She said and I couldn't think about how she said she loved me, it wasn't in the romantic way but I knew she cared about me.

"Im happy Dani, I owe it to you. You made me feel comfortable in my own skin and made me know I can be happy again."

"I know you've gone through a lot and you didn't deserve it, and what you said means a lot to me. You made me realize that I do have a family, and you care for me, which is all I need to be happy."

"Can I kiss you?" I asked, suddenly I felt confidence, it was no or never, I needed to make my move on her before something happens, but when I asked, she nodded.

She crawled on top of me and leaned in, I've been waiting for this since the day I first saw her, she was so happy to meet me and I was so rude. I never thought we'd about to kiss
