Aftermath (Bucky Barnes)

Chapter Six

Steve ordered us some food and I showered, after we ate. He left and went to shower. I changed into a loose t-shirt and some sweatpants.

I was currently sitting on my bed, debating on whether or not to call Daniella or not after my little slip up.

I dialed her number and put the phone to my ear, it was ringing.

"Can't come to the phone right now, leave a message." Her voice said. I hung up and called the Tower and Jarvis picked up.

"Where's Dani?" I asked. "She is in the shower, would you like me to put her through?"

"Please." I mumbled.

"Bucky!" She called and I could hear the water running in the background. "Hey, Dani."

"How'd it go today? I read over all the files you sent me, you have neat handwriting." I smiled and looked down at the bedding.

I started playing with a loose thread on it. "Nothing happened today, it was a complete waste of our time. How's your foot? Are you resting it?"

"Sorry to hear you didn't do anything, welcome to my life. And I think you and I both know the answer to whether or not I've been resting my foot."

"Dani."

"Yes Buck?" I could see her smirk over the phone. I loved her voice and I missed her. "I really miss you." She said after I stayed silent, like she was reading my mind.

"I miss you too."

I heard the water shut off and I heard a lot of muffled things. But it sounded like she was getting ready for bed. "You going to bed right now?" I asked. "Yes, are you?"

"Yes. I should go, Steve's going to be coming in any minute and he's super cranky, he needs his sleep. Goodnight Dani."

"Goodnight Bucky." She said through the phone and yawned. "Stay safe." She said before hanging up.

Steve walked out of the bathroom and crashed into bed. "I hate missions like this." He said. "Yeah me too. I just talked with Dani, she's bored out of her mind there all alone."

"She shouldn't be she has absolutely everything there. But it's probably just because you're not there."

"What do you mean by that?" I asked and he buried his face in his pillow. "You guys hang out 24/7 she does everything with you and since you're not there, nothing appears fun."

"That's not true." I argued

"Yes it is, sir." Jarvis added and Steve chuckled. "Told you so." Steve said.

"We're close friends." I said

"There's nothing wrong, you two aren't breaking any by-laws." He said and lifted his head from the pillow and raised an eyebrow. I threw a pillow from by bed at his face and he threw it back at me.

"I know you like her."

"What? No." I said and he laughed. "You don't have to admit it now. But come talk to me when you're ready to make a move on her."

"Goodnight Steve."

I said and didn't hear a peep out of him the rest of the night. I cuddled up with the blankets and pillows and closed my eyes. I was told I'm a blanket hog, actually by Dani.

But she tells me I have an excuse, Hydra made me sleep in cold hard cells and on solid cots so she said I could sleep with as many blankets as I want.

I woke up and heard rain hitting the windows. I took out my phone and looked at the clock. 7:38 it read.

I just wanted to stay in bed all day. "What's the plan for today?" I heard Steve ask, I rolled over and he was in his bed, on the phone.

"Yeah, I'll let him know." Steve said then hung up. "We are staking out the base again." He said and I sighed. "NOO!" I yelled into my pillow and Steve laughed at me.

Daniella's Point of View: "Dani!"

I opened my eyes to see Pepper standing there with her arms crossed. "What?" I asked and she raised a brow. I sat up and noticed I was sprawled out across the couch.

There were food bags all across the floor and couch. I only had a shirt and underwear on, no  pants.

"In my defense...." I started and she rolled eyes. "What the hell happened?"

"I fell asleep in my bed, then woke up and had a few snacks, then there was a funny movie on..."

"Clean this up then yourself up, and I'll take you to your doctors appointment." She said.

I cleaned up all my mess and showered quickly and changed into jeans and a nice long sleeved shirt and an infinity scarf. I braided my hair and walked out.

"About damn time." She laughed and I hugged her. "Let's go get this boot off." She smiled.

The car ride was filled with us laughing and smiling. We walked into the waiting room and I checked in. We had to sit for some time so we discussed her love life.

"Tony is amazing, we don't see each other but we make it work. You have anyone special? And don't lie, Tony tells me everything."

"No, I don't have anyone special." I said, I wanted someone. But with my career I would put them at risk and I hate the idea of just meeting someone, I'd want to be close friends with them first.

"Really? Not even Bucky?"

"What about Bucky?" I said and she opened her mouth to speak but the doctor called my name.

I walked in and took off my boot and the doctor asked simple questions like how was it feeling? How was I doing?

"So you don't have to wear the boot anymore, but I don't want you going on any missions, take it easy." He said.

"Okay, but can you write that down on a piece of paper, when I can go on missions or else my team won't let me." I joked and he scribbled it down on a piece of paper.

"You can go now." He said. I nodded and waited until he left the room, before texting Bucky.
