Chapter 3

The loud noise I found out was only Sam getting mad at his game, so he stomped on the ground really loudly. I went to his room to tell him to be quiet. But he was just being his normal self to me. I looked at the time and it was only 9:45 p.m. I tried to fall back asleep but I couldn't, so I decided to join Sam in his video game. He was really upset because I kept on beating him. I ended falling asleep on the floor. I woke up the next morning to Sam kicking me to get up.

After I got up we went downstairs to eat breakfast. While we were all eating we were watching the news. They were telling us about the war and how not just the countries that were the start of it brought more countries into the war. The war has gotten worse over the year. Already 5 countries have been completely destroyed. The U.S is trying to pull out of the war but countries keep dragging us back in. After breakfast there's a knock at the door and John goes to open it and its Jacob. He comes in and asks if we had watched the news recently. We all say yes. Jacob then says that the government is going to start choosing from the draft.

We quickly turn on the TV to the news and wait for them to announce the draft. This is the first time that they are going to the draft. We all are waiting for their names to be called but no one that we know has their name called. We watched all day waiting to hear but nothing. We all go to sleep at 10 worried about what might happen tomorrow. Jacob just stays over again. I was trying to stay positive because tomorrow was my birthday the day I turn 19.

I wake up and I go into the kitchen and nobody is there. There was a note on the counter from John saying. "Meet us at our hangout spot." I go get dressed and I grab my keys and drive to the spot. I get there and there is no one there. I go to the register and ask if my friends were here,(because the person knows who we are because we go there a lot), but she said no. But she handed me a note from John saying. "We waited but you took to long so went to the store to pick up a few things. But enjoy this coffee I ordered for you."

The lady at the register handed me my coffee and said "Happy Birthday!" to me. I said thanks and I walked out and drove to the store down the road. And when I walked in no one was there again. There was another note saying "Go to the mall someones there waiting for you." I went out of the store and drove to the mall and when I walked in and I run up to my best friend Alex. We go shopping all day. When we started to go home she took me to her house and she said we were going to a party for a close family. After we got ready we got into the car to go to John's house. When we walk in there was a big banner saying "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" I was so surprised I started to cry from happiness. My friends hugged me and wished me a "Happy Birthday!" After all this Jacob came over to me and said he needed to ask me a question. We went away from everyone and he asked me if I would go out with him.

I said yes because I did like him. After this he kissed me and were interrupted by teens having a good time. He continued to kiss me. After this we went back to the party hand in hand and everyone was directed to the TV. The news was turned on they were announcing who was being drafted again. After a few names came John, Sam, and Jacob. At this I was in shock and I fainted.
