"Up next the backstroke relay!" the announcer yelled.

Kai looked over at Makoto and popped her neck and fingers making sure he heard her. He sighed and contained himself to walk over to her. He looked like he was about to cry. But she had something else burning in her eyes, she had determination and anger. I bit my bottom lip and sighed crossing my arms over my chest. The gun fire went off and they all started to swim quickly to the other side of the pool. She swiftly moved through the water making sure Makoto was always behind her. He would get distracted by his thoughts and was always behind her. She made it to the other end and our whole team cheered and jumped. I walked over to help her out of the water but she got up by herself taking off her cap and goggles. 

"Nice job Makoto, you did your best" Nagisa smiled patting him on the back a bit. 

I scoffed and walked over to Kaiyo to smile and say good job myself. She just brushed me away and walked into the dressing room.

"I'm heading home Seijuro" she said in a monotone voice walking out of the building.

I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose. 

"Is she okay?" Rei asked me unexpectedly.

"Why do you care?" I scoffed at him.

Everyone gathered around him as well did Makoto with his head hanging low.

"Because she's our friend too" Nagisa shouted angrily.

I looked out the big windows and saw her standing by the road as the wind blew her hair around. She stared at the ground and I saw tears hit the pavement. Haru already beat me to her and I was a little jealous. I saw him talking to her kindly. Haru wasn't the person to be comforting anybody but he sure did the job. She engulfed him in a hug as he sighed in relief. I looked back at everyone and they were all pressed up against the window looking at Kaiyo sadly. Makoto had tears brimming in his eyes. 

"Whatever I have a relay to win" I snapped putting my goggles on.

I stood at the block and waited for the queue. I sighed and closed my eyes. It went off and I dived into the water. The anger and hatred I had towards all them bubbled up inside me and I started to swim faster turning at the end and swimming to end of it. Everyone stared at me in amazement and everyone was behind me at least three feet. I gasped and my whole team cheered excitedly.

"Woah Senpai that's a new record for our whole team!" Aiichiro shouted helping me out of the pool.

I chuckled and they all raised me on their shoulders. I saw the Iwatobi team outside except Makoto of course. He really needed to stay away from her for a while. They were all patting her shoulders and smiling giving her hugs. I told the team to let me down and I ran after everyone looking at Kaiyo's sad face. I walked over to her and smiled a little bit.

"Nice job" she sniffled.

"Thanks you too" I nodded scratching the back of my head.

"Hey guys thanks, I'll see you tomorrow Haru" she said hugging them again and walking with me back towards our stuff.

"W-Will you walk me home?" she muttered.

"Sure" I replied slinging my bag over my shoulder walking alone with her back home. 

It was silent and I felt like I was gonna explode. What did I want from her? It was driving me crazy.

"Rin, I just wanna apologize for causing you so much trouble lately. I don't know what's gotten into you but you suddenly take an interest in my feelings and I-" she started.

"Hey don't sweat it seriously, you're my friend and I want you to be okay" I smiled kindly holding her shoulder.

"Than why do I feel like I'm dying of fire every time you touch me?" she asked in a quieter tone.

My mouth opened a bit but nothing came out. My hand dropped and cleared my throat. 

"I uh-" 

"Rin do you like me?" she stopped in front of me but lowered her head so I couldn't see her eyes.

"Well sure, you're my friend of course I like you-"I chuckled.

"No do you like like me?" she huffed trying to avoid eye contact.

"I-I..." I stopped and was interrupted by Gou yelling both of our names. 

I sighed in relief and started to walk towards her but Kaiyo stepped in front of me once again.

"No! Rin answer me damn it!" she shouted.

I gulped and sighed audibly. 

"Yeah, I'm in l-love with y-you actually" I said blushing so hard my face was probably completely red. 

She looked back up at me as tears brimmed in her eyes. 

"Hello why are you guys ignoring me?" Gou asked rudely waving her hands in the air. 

I shooed her away and she back up a bit nodding slowly knowing what I was talking about. 

"When?" Kaiyo asked .

"When?"

"When did you start loving me?"

"When I saw you swimming in that pool with all the glowing fish, I thought you were the prettiest thing I've ever seen" I chuckled nervously.

She sighed and tears brimmed in her eyes again.

"Why didn't you tell me!?" 

"Because you were with Makoto and I wasn't gonna stand in the way of that! Makoto is amazing guy and I think you should give him another chance considering he had no clue about the girl. They were old lovers and he had nothing to do with her!" I replied not thinking about what I was saying.

"I don't know- I don't know how to apologize to him" she replied rubbing her arm.

"I think he would accept anything you gave him... he likes you too Kai" I smiled patting her head.

She lowered her eyes back to the ground and sighed dragging myself back to my house. Why did I tell her in the first place? I was torn on letting her be happy or letting myself be happy and her happiness comes first in my eyes. After all, I am in love with her.
