When Idina and Kristin finally escaped the rain, they were soaking wet. "I'll get you some clothes to change," Kristin said and off she went. When she came back she had changed herself. "Thanks Kristin. I wouldn't expect you to be so nice to me after these news." " I'm still your girlfriend after all." Idina just nodded.
"Did you have breakfast before you left home?" Kristin asked to change the subject. "No I didn't." "I'll prepare us something to eat then. What do you want? We can't eat the bagels anymore but I still have toast or cereals and coffee or tea to drink. Or I can make hot chocolate again." "I'm not really hungry." "Idina, you have to eat. You're eating for two now." Idina sighed, "Ok, I'd like some toast and coffee please." Kristin smiled, "Sure, coming in a minute."
Kristin came back with two plates and noticed Idina staring at a pillow in front of her with one hand on her stomach. She looked kind of lost which broke Kristin's heart.
"Dee, are you ok?" Idina looked up. "I was just thinking." "What were you thinking about?", asked Kristin as she handed Idina a plate and a cup of coffee. "If we should cancel the dinner tonight and when's the best time to tell Aaron about the baby." "I know it's your decision but I would do it soon. You'd only hurt him more if you told him later or if he had to find out himself." "And what's going to happen to us?" Kristin felt the tears coming. "I don't know. But what I know is that whatever is going to happen, I'll be right here waiting for you. If you decide to stay with him I'll try to get over you and I'll maybe try to be your friend which would be more painful to me because I know in my heart that I will never stop loving you. And if you decide to leave him and stay with me, I'll love this child and take care of it. And I welcome you to stay here with me. We'd be a beautiful family, you, me, Walker, Maddie and this baby." At this point Kristin was bawling. She usually was a hopeful person but deep down in her heart she knew that she had lost Idina. And she could make as many promises as she wanted but she could never replace Aaron. Not with a baby on the way.It was Idina's turn now to hug and comfort Kristin. "I really want to accept your offer Kris. I know that you will always be my home no matter where I am." She paused for a moment. Then she started talking again: "I haven't decided yet. I don't want to raise your hopes but please give me a few more days to think." Kristin nodded in between sobbs.
A few silent seconds passed with the couple just holding each other.
Suddenly Kristin jolted up.
"Idina what did you do with the sticks? What if Aaron finds them?"
"Calm down, they're in my bag. I'm gonna throw them away before I get home."
"You should make a doctor's appointment to be 100% sure." "Kristin stop it. I can take care of that myself." Kristin was surprised at the sudden mood swing of the brunette. With a hurt expression on her face she exclaimed : "Hey no need to snap at me." "Oh gosh Kristin I'm sorry. I...I guess I'm still waiting to wake up from this nightmare. It doesn't feel real yet." Idina sighed. "I should go home soon. Aaron's probably already wondering where I am."
"Ok, I'll see you for dinner then?" "Yeah, I'm dreading it to be honest." "Oh don't honey, maybe it won't be that bad. You never know." "Hm, maybe not." Idina gave Kristin a quick hug and a kiss on her lips.
When she had left, Kristin went to bed and curled up in a ball. She cried until no more tears were coming.
