Because I Knew You

Smile though your heart is aching

When Idina saw Walker holding Kristin's hand firmly, she couldn't help but smile.
Even after weeks of spending time together, it still warmed her heart.

A feeling that she desperately needed on a day like this one. Idina was tired; physically as well as mentally.

"Mommy," Walker let go of Kristin's hand to run to his mother.
"Baby," Idina reached out her arms to embrace Walker.

She looked over to Kristin and mouthed "Thank you!" in her direction.

"Are you feeling better mommy?"
"Yes, now that you're here." Idina replied softly, caressing his cheek.

"Kristin has told me everything and I want you to know that I love you very much no matter what you do."

Idina hugged him a little tighter which made Walker giggle.

"Please be honest Walker. Did I scare you?"
"Only a little bit. But Kristin told me that you'll be ok."
"Yes, I really hope so."
Idina put on a brave face but Kristin knew how exhausted she was and that she just wanted this chaos to come to an end.

"Mommy?"
"Yes Walker?"
"I love you very, very much!"

Idina kissed Walker on the cheek. "And I love you! You're the greatest little boy in the world."

Kristin started preparing a rather late breakfast. She made some blueberry pancakes (Idina's favorites) and some chocolate chip pancakes (Walker's and her personal favorites).

Kristin tried to reach the top of the shelves to get three plates out when she heard Idina chuckling behind her. She turned around.
"How long have you been standing there?"
"Not very long," Idina replied, "Do you need help?"
"Um, I guess so," Kristin said, blushing.
"You're so cute," Idina smiled and kissed her on the cheek. "Thanks for talking to Walker. He really does know everything now which means I can kiss you in front of him."
Kristin grinned, " I like that!"
Idina slapped her ass and got the plates to set the table.

After they had finished eating, Idina pulled Kristin to the kitchen.
"I'll go see Aaron later today."
Kristin gulped,  "Um ok. Do you want me to come with you? I mean wait in the car?"
"No, I think I can go there alone." Idina sighed. "I'm kind of scared."

Kristin wrapped her arms around her girlfriend. "Why are you scared?"

"I don't know how he'll react. Knowing him, he'll be really sad and I think that would be even worse than him being angry. I mean it's his child. We're practically bonded for life! "

" Listen Idina. I can't really say much about all this. But there's something I can assure you of. When you come, I'll be here, waiting for you. And I will dry your your tears and show you all the love that I have."
"Thank you Kris! I appreciate that!"

But Kristin noticed the doubt that was written all over her face.
"Hey what's up?"
"What if he asks me to stay?"
Idina asked quietly.

Kristin's smile disappeared. She had thought about that many times and every time, she tried to push the thought to the back of her mind. She knew that if Aaron asked that question Idina would seriously consider leaving her. And that broke her.

So Kristin simply answered, "I don't know."

Before Idina left, Kristin hugged her extra hard.
And she spent the rest of the afternoon playing with Walker.

Kristin knew that everything could turn out for the better but a feeling told her that it wouldn't.

So I'm going to end this story very soon. But I think I'll write a sequel. :)
