"Mission report, agent Y/L/N." Fury asked over the phone. Once you finished your shift and were safe in your quarters, you would call him and give him the daily mission report.

"Subject "Winter Soldier" is showing signs of emotion. They've not been wiping him for about a week. What's going on, Fury?"

"Emotion? What do you mean emotion? He's programmed
to not feel anything, how did you know he's feeling things now?"

"There was an incident, he felt remorse for hurting me."

"Are you ok?" Steve interjected from over the telephone. You suspected Fury had all the Avengers there listening to your mission reports. After all, they were pretty much the only family you had.

"I'm fine, Steve. I've got to go, they'll be patrolling soon. Love you guys."

You heard a simultaneous "Love you." from all the Avengers. "Stay safe, Y/N."

"I will, Fury." you said before you hung up the phone and got some much needed sleep.

You got to your post as usual, but this time there was no Bucky. A couple minutes later, he stumbled down the hall supported by a guard and was practically thrown into his quarters. After the guard was well out view, you went into the room and found Bucky in a coughing fit on the floor.

You rushed over and put your hand on his back, causing him to turn around quickly and almost fling you off. His face was once again bloody and bruised. You put your hand over your mouth. "Bucky, What happened?"

He could barely speak without coughing "Experiments for emotion. They were..trying to trigger..pain."

His cuts were still bleeding, so you reached into your tool belt pocket to find a mini first aid kit. "Let me help you." he nodded and sat as still as he could. You opened a packet of alcohol wipes "This might sting a bit." you told him as you dabbed it on his cuts. He had a bad one right below his eye socket, on his cheekbone. He winced at the pain and brought his hand up to touch it, but instead, he touched your hand. Your eyes met for a moment and his hand lingered until he brought it back down to his lap. You continued working on his cuts until they were clean. "You'll require stitches on one or two, I can bring a sutures kit in tomorrow if you'd like. It'll help them heal faster."

He nodded reluctantly "I just hate needles."

You chuckle a bit to yourself. "The great Winter Soldier is afraid of needles!?" you exclaim with mock surprise.

He stares at you blankly "I'm afraid of a lot of things."

Momentary silence filled the room until you spoke up. "Let's get you to bed, eh?" You got off the bed and told him to lay down. You pulled the bed sheets over him and ran your hand once through his soft chocolate hair. "Goodnight Bucky."

He met your hand on his head and gave it a light squeeze "Goodnight Y/N."
