You sat alone at your plain, grey cubicle, sifting through paperwork while drumming along to the generic alternative station playing from the small radio on your desk.

A sudden creak broke the tranquility of the dark office space. "Hello?" You called out to nothing. You turned back to your desk and thumbed through more boring field reports. "these dumb air vents are so loud." you grumbled "Fury needs to get these fixed."

"I agree" a voice rang out from behind you. You jumped to grab your gun from your desk drawer, but a strong arm seized yours, rendering you immobile. "I wouldn't do that if I were you." The mysterious voice warned. It sounded.....Russian.

You tried to scream for help, but his other free hand wrapped around your mouth before the noise could make it there. He turned you around to face him. His face was worn and scarred. He wore a black tactical suit that seemed all too familiar to you. "HYDRA" the word escaped your lips, but only got so far as the hand that muffled your anger. He scoffed at you. "Take me to the Winter Soldier" he commanded. You responded with more muffled curse words to signify your resistance. "Stupid girl" he slurred "We'll have to do this the hard way." You struggled some more, getting nowhere with his tight grasp around you. Next thing you knew, the world was pitch black.

You woke up disoriented, felling the cold bars of a hard metal chair on your back and the sting of cuffs around your wrists. Almost as if on cue, a voice sounded over the intercom.

"Are you willing to cooperate?" The heavy accent asked. You sat in silence. All that you heard was a simple "Okay" before two men walked into the windowless cell. They released your restraints and led you out of the room "What's going on?" You were met with nothing but stone cold expressions.

After walking through a couple cold hallways, you arrived at a room containing a single chair and some machines attached to it.

You examined the room, quickly realizing what was going on. "What are we doing here?" You asked, panic getting the better of you. The men forced you into the chair, which you tried to claw your way out of before they strapped you down. The Russian man stepped slowly into the room. "Please, you don't have to do this." You begged and pleaded some more before the phone in your pocket went off. He snatched the device from your pants, opened it, and put it on speaker. "Y/N, where are you?! No ones seen you for hours." Bucky's worried yet comforting voice rang through your ears, temporarily making you forget your current situation. The husky Russian voice responded in your place "I'm afraid she's a little tied up right now. He looked over at the restraints on your limbs and snorted at his pun. "Give me Y/N, Abram." Buckys voice became dark and serious. "He knows this man?" You asked yourself. Maybe he knew where you were...

"I'm afraid I cannot do that" Abram shot back "You see, I have big plans for our dear Y/N." he circled around you, staring at you intently, phone in hand. "We've lost one Winter Soldier, and our most successful." He pouted dramatically "Someone has to fill your place, and we've got a volunteer!" He smiled maniacally in your direction.

You shook in fear, tears welling up in your eyes. "What do you want?!" Bucky yelled over the the phone "You." Abram replied simply.

"Where are you Abram! You asshole! I swear I will find you and I'll-" Before Bucky could say anymore, you intruded, your voice coarse and choked from the hot tears running down your cheeks "Bucky please, you're not going back to your old life."

More tears fell into your lap as Abram walked over to you, flipping the switches on the machines and strapping the cold leather around your trembling head. "Don't you touch her, you monster!" Bucky's voice was raised yet choked, like he was crying.

He turned the switches up almost all the way, seconds from electrifying you. "It's too late for that now." He had a dirty smirk on his face.

"It's okay James, everything will be okay. I promise." you reassured him, doubting every word that came out your own mouth. Bucky was silent. "James Buchanan Barnes, you listen to me boy." You chuckled a little through your tears "Everything will be okay. You're safe, that's all I care about."

"B-but" he stammered over the phone "But nothing. Remember who you are, James. I'll be back in the blink of an eye."

You closed your eyes. All you heard was a faint "I love you" before everything went blurry.
