New Tricks [Part 17]

Max's POV

I'm interested at the new stuff Ross is going to be teaching us. I mean he has lived on this earth for hundreds of years he is bound to know something we don't. Before we walked outside Ross stopped us and muttered something. Instantly the backyard disappeared and a new place opened up. When we walked out we were in an open field where it was just grass and the sky stretched out for miles. Nothing was anywhere except the door we came through. 

"Ross where are we" Adam asked. Ross smiled and turned to face us all. "This my friends is my own little pocket dimension. I created and Abbadon can't find us here" Ross said. I had to admit I was a little jealous that Ross had all this power and I didn't. But I decided it didn't matter Ross was stronger than me as long as I could protect him it didn't matter. "So Ross what are you teaching us" I asked. 

Ross smiled and held out his hands. Training dummies appeared but Ross didn't seem pleased with them so he snapped his fingers and they disappeared. "The magic you guys possess you don't need to speak an incantation to activate it right. All you have to do is think it and the spell is activated" Ross said. We all nodded, this was basic knowledge why did it matter. "Well what happens if you say an incantation of sorts" Ross said. 

Ross looked at us waiting for us to say something but all of us just stood there confused. "These are the times when I miss Persephone she at least had some kind of thought" Ross said. "Wait Ross who's Persephone" I asked. Ross realized he spoke aloud and immediately blushed. "Persephone was part of Ross personal guard when the first fight between Abbadon broke out. She was sort of the planner of the operations a scribe of sorts" Jess said. 

That didn't make me feel any better but I spoke up. "Well if you speak an incantation you would focus on it more and it would be more powerful" I said. Ross nodded is head "Good Max now I know you're not a fan of my ice so I need you to melt it." 

"Frozen wall" Ross said. I knew the secret to Ross ice so I summoned a fireball to melt it but it only made a small dent in his ice. I was standing there astonished that my fire did nothing and Ross was standing there amused that I couldn't melt his ice. "I told you if you speak an incantation it would be stronger" Ross said. Frustrated I spoke my incantation "Column of dancing flames" I said. 

Five pillars of swirling fire appeared in front of me and slammed into the ice. The ice shattered and broke onto the ground, I wasn't satisfied though so I changed the course of the fire to Ross. Ross seemed to know what I was doing and held his hand out. "Water burst" Ross said. Water burst from the ground and extinguished my fire. "Ohh I want to try" Jess said.  Ross nodded and waited for Jess to attack. "Shadow wind" Jess said. 

Dark air rushed from behind Jess and went straight to Ross. It hit Ross full force but he just stood there in the middle of the wind unscathed. "You need more concentration Jess" Ross said. I reminded myself that Adam was still and when I turned to look at him he wasn't there. I was about to ask where he was but then I heard Adam yell something. "Satan's Descent" 

Adam appeared above Ross and dive bombed him in full demon form. A blast of white light came from the crater they made but Adam jumped out of the way. Adam spun around and went to attack Ross again. "Hell fire blast" A ball of green fire was in Adam's palm and he shot it at Ross. Ross was in the middle of the crater just standing and he was prepared for the attack. "Mirror Force" Ross yelled. A sort of air dome appeared around Ross and Adam's hellfire bounced straight back to Adam. It hit Adam full force and Adam fell to the ground.

Jess yelped and Ran to check on Adam. "Nature's blessing" Jess said. An aura of green spread from Jess to Adam healing him. Ross had gotten out of the crater by the time Jess' spell had healed Adam. 

Ross' POV

They reminded me so much of my first guard The Underworld Guard. How I missed my old friends but my new ones I have made this time around were probably my favorite this time. Besides there learning this new style of magic better than the last groups. Even the underworld guard had a hard time learning this style. They made me proud but when the fight with Abbadon would start things would get serious. 

I got out of the crater to see Jess healing Adam. Her family had helped me keep this knowledge passed down throughout the years safe. I needed to thank her family for that. "Well guys I guess that's all that I needed to teach cause I'm guessing you already know what to do" I said. They all nodded there head and I snapped my fingers. The dimension I had created slowly faded away leaving the backyard that was going to be the training grounds. 

Max jerked his head around to see where we were now. I patted his shoulder and smiled at him. "It's okay Maxxy we're back on earth now" I said trying to calm him down. He turned to me and gave me a kiss. I kissed back and we were kissing when we heard Jess clear her throat. "I don't mean to interrupt but can you guys do that elsewhere Adam needs some rest that hell fire he made was pretty strong. You were right Ross an incantation does make a spell stronger" Jess said. 

I smiled and nodded m head I turned to Max again only to see him crying. I ran my hands through his hair and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "I love you Maxxy" I said. Max looked at me and something flickered in his eyes. I knew that light I had seen it before but with my last Magi. Well might as well have a fun night before we all go into a big fight. I looked at Jess and telepathically sent her a message in my mind

She understood and responded. I had a felling that was going to be the plan. Go have one last night with Max before we go Jess had said. I took Max's hand and teleported us to the house. We landed in our bed and Max was on top of me. "Ross why are we here" Max said. He tried to get off me but I pulled him into a kiss. We kissed passionately and deeply Max pulled us apart and looked at me in the eyes. 

"Are you sure you want this" Max asked.

"Yes Maxxy" I purred (Not literally but you know what I mean)

Okay guys I'm going to leave it at that and I'll tel you why.
