(Nine)

We took things step by step after that night. We did all the movie dates, dinner dates, adventure dates, and all kinds of other dates. Days became years and we discovered each other more. Things like our similarities, opinions on certain ideas, taste in music, hobbies we enjoyed doing together, her love for books and her life growing up. Time passed by so fast that it almost didn't feel like a year. It was just like it was yesterday when I met her in SNL. I could say that I knew her more. But just like any other couple, even dating couples, we experienced some rough terrain and arguments in between. Nonetheless, we always sorted things out.

The gang experienced some rough turbulences as well, but managed to be solid through out the entire year. Bas and Betty's relationship didn't work out. Betty started dating Chad while Bas moved on without any problems. He started dating Adrianna, Betty's friend, while Jay and Audris had the same thing as me and Rachel. They were doing pretty good as well.

It was February 12. Prom day. Audris was going with Jay, Betty with Chad, Bas with Adrianna, and I was going with Rachel. The weather was absolutely perfect. I woke up earlier than usual to get my suit from the laundry shop then bought some flowers for Rachel. I took a quick shower and went down stairs to have breakfast with my parents.

"Good morning honey, how are you feeling today? Are you excited?" Mom asked.

"Yeah, I actually am. Just need to grab my suit from the laundry store after breakfast." I said.

"I'm going to lend you the tie I used when I dated your mom during our school prom. Your mom was so beautiful that night..." My dad said until my mom interrupted him. "You told that story a million times dear. Go on Damon, last thing you want today is to be behind schedule." Mom said.

I finished eating breakfast and drove to the laundry store to get my suit. Then, I passed by the flower shop to buy a bouquet of the pinkest tulips and roses. I called Jay to check up on him. Things were clear at his end. He was going to fetch Audris at her place then was going to meet us at the venue. I had my plan all figured out as well. I was going to get ready by 5:30, go to Rachel's house to meet her parents, have a small getting to know each other talk, then go to the venue. Rachel was busy in the salon fixing her hair and other girl stuff which meant she was very stressed out. We agreed to just stick to the plan and not talk until we saw each other later.

I got my suit and drove back home. I played a couple of games in Heroes of Newerth until it was about 3 in the afternoon. I decided to get ready until Bas called.

"What's up bro are you ready for..." I said when Bas interrupted me.

"BRO I AM SO SCREWED, I NEED YOUR HELP BIG TIME!" Bas shouted, sounding very worried.

"What did you do now?" I asked, sounding really confused.

"Well, the car is not here and my parents are not picking up! I told Adrianna I was going to pick her up and she said that her parents were expecting me. The last thing I would want is to show up there in a cab. Damon for the love of god, save me from this misery!" Bas said.

Great, he just had to call this late. My schedule had just been all messed up. I could just leave him behind since it's his fault for not being responsible, but then again, he is my friend and couldn't just leave him. Plus I am sure he would do the same thing for me. The bigger problem was that Adrianna lived an hour away far from Rachel's and it was rush hour. Then again, I can't just let Bas ruin his first impression with Adrianna's parents so I said yes to helping him out.

I showered and got ready right away after I hanged up the phone with Bas. I called Rachel about the situation and she got worried as well. It was the first time I was going to meet Rachel's parents and the pressure of having my first impression damaged devoured me. I went downstairs where my mom was ready with her camera. My dad gave me his famous "You are a man now, and that I had to be more responsible" speech, then I immediately got in my car to pick up Bas.
