Haha ! Now you can't escape !

I stared at Juuji's door with a grin. I had just finished placing the beads around his room and was excited to see his reaction. Now he couldn't escape like last time. This would save me all that trouble of having to watch over him. As usual, I knocked on Juuji's door. "Juuji ?", I called out, "Are you awake yet ?" It was 12 o'clock in the afternoon. I was bringing in his food. "Come in", I heard him call out from the other side. For some reason, he didn't sound as lively as he usually did. I slowly opened his door to see him sitting on the side of his bed. He looked up at me, exhausted. "Whoa", I said as I closed the door behind me, "What happened to you ? Did you not get any rest or something ?" He narrowed his gaze at me and stood up. Juuji walked over to me and before I knew it, he had me backed up against the wall. I was still holding his food. "The real question is", he mumbled, as he looked down on me, "What did you do ?" There was a faint hostility in his amber colored eyes. I snaked my way out of his cornering and headed over to the table. "What're you talking about ?", I asked as I placed his food down and set them out onto the table. "Don't lie", I heard him say from behind me. "You had something to do with this Guardian-san." I turned to him and sighed, slightly shaking my head. "Why me ?", I asked slowly. "For all I know, it could've been Azalin or Sara." "You lie", he said again. Juuji walked towards me and took a seat at his table. He stared at the food but didn't touch it. "Don't take me as a fool", he mumbled, "I know when something has changed." I stared at his ash colored hair and wondered what he would look like with braids.

"Then tell me", I replied, "What has changed ?" I saw a faint smirk on his face. But he didn't answer. Instead, he started eating. I stood by him, waiting for his response. It never came. In the end, I left him there, in that room. All I could do now was go out and see what the others were doing. As I was leaving, I thought of the base as a safe place. That was, until it was set to ruin. We were somewhere on the outskirts of the city, hidden in a place that wasn't easily found. Not only did I scatter the beads around Juuji's room, I also placed them around the base. Hopefully the barrier would be of help.

"She's here ?"

"Why would she be here ?"

"Maybe it's important."

"We'll go check."

I looked up at the fountain. Even during the day, that gateway was just as active as ever. "What're you doing here ?", I heard a hostile voice say from behind me. I looked over my shoulder to see Rhia walking my way. Glaring as usual, I see. How annoying. Not that far away from her, Senri and Mitsuru. "Am I not allowed to be here ?", I asked her, turning back to the fountain. I didn't hear her reply. Even when I turned around, all she could do was stare.

"So what brings you here ?", Senri asked, breaking the tension between Rhia and I. "It's not like you to come to a place like this." I turned to him and leaned against the railing of the fountain. "Though it's not like I have anything against any of you", I replied, "I just thought I'd stop by and tell you something important." A look of interest appeared on Mitsuru's face. "Like ?", he asked. "Oh please !", Rhia interjected, "We don't need your help !" Senri and Mitsuru bother turned to her, frowning. I sighed in dismay, shrugging. "Jah", I replied with a grin, "Then I guess it's okay to let you all die." "No, continue", Senri replied without hesitating, "Continue to what you were saying." From beside him, I could see Senri staring at Rhia with disapproval. Oh well, she deserved that.

I reached into my pocket and pulled out some of the beads I had taken from the house. I didn't have that many left on me. The rest was at home. But these beads.. I didn't give them away to just anyone. "What are those for ?", Mitsuru asked as he eyed them suspiciously. "I want you to decrease the amount of hunters here", I said slowly, deciding whether they'd listen or not. "I want you to only keep the ones that you need to watch over this area." "Are you crazy ?", Rhia snapped, "Why on earth would we do that !?" "Hear me out", was my blunt response.

"The beads that I have in my hand.. I want you to give them to those who will stay", I explained, "Afterwords, send the rest of the hunters home. If not, then their deaths will be due to your poor choice. I suggest that you don't take that route." "But then what'll happen after we shorten our numbers ?", Mitsuru asked. "Order them to watch the area surrounding the fountain. And by that, I mean the area that surrounds this entire park", I replied, pointing towards the outskirts of the park, "Don't pay attention to this fountain from that point. Someone else will do that." "And what makes you think that we'll listen ?", Senri asked. His tone was more questionable, rather than it being hostile. I grinned at them. "You'r choice", I mumbled as I handed the beads to Mitsuru. "These beads", he said to me, "What are they..?" "I don't hand these out to just anyone", I replied, "Be careful of who you give these to. I have a feeling you're overlooking something." "Like what Shiori ?", Senri asked, "What're we overlooking." I looked past the three of them and to the hunters that were nearby. "You're being deceived by someone in these parts." "A traitor ?" Rhia broke out into a laugh. "Yeah right !", she shouted, "The only traitor here is you !" "Rhia, shut up", Mitsuru snapped. She scowled at him. "A fact is a fact !", she hissed, "And you know that !"

"Anyhow", I mumbled, ignoring Rhia, "If you happen to give that person one of these, the bead will react. When that happens, come find me. And whatever happens, don't let that person go. Understand ?" Mitsuru nodded. "But how'll we explain this to Sotaru and the others ?", Rhia asked. "We'll manage", Senri replied, "They'll understand." "Jah, then I'll take my leave now", I said. "Wait." I looked at Mitsuru who had an uneasy expression on his face. "Why would you bother doing something like this for those who are trying to get you ?" I grinned and shrugged. "Who knows", I replied, slowly beginning to walk past them , "Maybe I've finally gone mad or something. I expect good choices from you." "You don't make any sense sometimes, you know ?", Senri mumbled.

I grinned and stopped walking. They were now behind me, and I was now looking away.

"Just because I am the traitor that everyone speaks of does not mean that I hold anything against any of you. That's just your perception of my existence to this place. Although I really should just let you all die, that's not my aim." I stopped talking for a second and looked up at the blue sky.

"After a while, you forget that you should care about things", I mumbled.

"Life is merely a game."

It's easy to regret.
