"Alyssa, come on, love," Joe said softly, looking up at me.
"Dr. Wilson told us that we shouldn't fool around," I pointed out but he just smiled.
"Since when do you obey the rules? Come on, everyone wants to see you!"
"But Joe-"
"She's not here to tell us what we can or can't do, is she?"
"Fine, but I'm not getting into that," I said, motioning towards the wheelchair that was beside him. He blew out a frustrated breath and grabbed my hands. "I'd rather use crutches."
"We both know that you're not going to be able to support yourself."
"I can try. But I'm still hesitant about leaving."
"Is this about Dr. Anderson? Dr. Wilson told us that Dr. Anderson won't be here for another few hours, so you're not going to miss anything," he assured me but that wasn't what I was concerned about.
"What happens if they don't like me?"
"What?" He asked, clearly confused and then realization hit him and his expression changed. "Oh."
"They're going to love you, Alyssa."
"I'm still nervous," I said, wringing my hands together.
"You have nothing to be nervous about."
I nodded and then smiled as he leant down and kissed my cheek. He wrapped one arm around my neck and then the other one under my legs and lifted me up, placing me into the wheelchair.
"God, you're heavy," he winced, rubbing his arms in a joking manner after I was in the wheelchair.
"Shut up, you know that it's this stupid cast that's weighing me down."
"Uh huh."
"Enough making fun of me, can we just go?"
"Look who's eager now," he whispered before placing his hands on the two handles.
"I can push myself," I protested but he just shook his head.
"I don't want you exerting anymore energy. I'm pushing this thing whether you like it or not," he said before running in front of me to open the door. I looked down at my hands, unable to hide the smile that was forming on my lips. When I looked back up, I saw Joe staring at me which caused me to raise my eyebrow.
"Take a picture, Sugg. It'll last longer."
"Actually, I have a picture of you right here," he said and patted his pocket in his hoodie. When I quirked my brow, he reached inside and pulled something out, extending his arm to hand it to me.
I grabbed it rather hastily and held the image in my hands, looking up at the smile on his face before looking down at the picture. A smile erupted my lips, as I remembered what happened when the picture was taken.
"I always loved this photo," he whispered, bending down to reach my level. I was still staring down at it when he reached over and tugged the corner. I let it go reluctantly, as he stood up and put the doorstop down so that it would stay open. Joe placed one hand on my shoulder, squeezing it slightly before he placed his hands on the two handles and pushed.
