Part XXXVI: The Celebration
It had been a joyous victory for them after bagging the championship that season. All of their efforts didn't go to waste. It became worth all the tiredness and hard work. Their sacrifices paid off.
That night didn't go unnoticed for the players, the coaches, and their main sponsors. One function room of a five star hotel has been booked for a formal celebration. They can bring one company with them.
He already picked up his coat and tie that morning and he bought his shoes the day before. His car had been cleaned, his tank replenished.
She on the other hand was busy reading her new book collection when he came to her place. He asked her to accompany him in buying a dress for his cousin who would be celebrating her birthday. She changed her clothes and left with him. They went to a shop where his sister Ava buys formal attires.
"What does she like?" she asked him. She was scanning the clothes on the rack. "Is she tall? Or do you have a picture of her?"
"She's pretty. Lovable. She's a simple woman. Doesn't stand too tall. I guess slightly taller than you if not the same height. Same built. I don't have her picture. Just got a picture of her on my mind."
She got one dress from the rack. "Do you think she'll like this?"
"We'll try," he said and asked her to get other clothes that she thinks would be okay. They have chosen 10 dresses to choose from. "Can you try them one by one for me please?"
"What for? I mean, you just need my opinion. I'm sure she'll love whichever you get for her."
"We'll just get one but can I have her try them on?" Ethan asked the woman attending to them.
"Yes Sir," the woman said.
"Great. C'mon Raf. Get inside the dressing room and show it to me once you're dressed."
She went inside the fitting room and put on one of the dresses they chose. She unlocked the door after and got out to show him how the dress fits.
"It looks good on you but I don't like it. Try the other one."
It went on. He would comment that it was too revealing, too skimpy, too covered up, doesn't look good, or doesn't want it. She already changed into her 15th attire.
"Ethan, I'm getting tired. This is the last one I'm fitting, okay?" she told him before going back inside the fitting room. After 5 minutes, she went out and showed the dress to him. He smiled.
"I like it. I'll get that," he said. The woman went to the cashier where he followed and paid for it.
Their next stop was on the shoes section and it was easier for them to buy one that would match the dress. They went to a spa after paying for the shoes. They both had foot treatment and she requested for manicure-pedicure.
"I like this," she told him.
"Which one?"
"This. Spa. I never realized I'll be on a spa with you," she laughed.
"Won't happen again unless necessary. Enjoy this day lady."
"I guess I'm done for today. Thank you for my fabulous nails," she smiled at him.
He looked at her and smiled.
"Let's go."
He didn't answer.
"Ethan?" she asked. "I don't like that smile of yours."
"Will you do something for me please?"
"What is it?"
