Part LVI: Fell
What she saw in front of her were sets of pancakes, sliced strawberries, chocolate chips, sprinkles, almonds, butter, maple syrup, and some others. On another side of the table were sunny side up eggs, bacon, chicken strips, ham, rice, bread, and jelly.
At the center of their table was a slim white candle lighted.
She laughed, more of amazement resounding on her voice. "We're eating this much?"
"Yes. Dating this morning," he answered with a smile. "People do it as candlelit dinner but we'll do it as candlelit breakfast."
She covered her lips with her hands. She was very flattered. "Thank you Chad."
"You're welcome," he said and gave her a quick kiss before taking his seat. "Which one do you like?"
"Any suggestion? I want to try them all!" she commented.
"Try this first," he said and put a piece of pancake on her plate. He put some cream on top of it, chocolates, almonds, strawberry and mango slices. He folded it into two before adding some chocolate syrup. He sliced it and offered it to her. "What do you think?"
She smiled and looked at him.
Chad never left. He was at the background for sometime but when he took the stage, he swept everyone off their feet. It had been weeks since the day that she got broken and days when she finally stopped crying about it.
Instead of finding ways to forget Ethan, she found reasons to love Chad.
He knew that she was in love with another guy and he never brought it up once nor questioned her about it. He continued doing what he was supposed to do and loved her unconditionally.
When they were starting as a couple, she was using him to move on.
"Let's see where this sunset takes us."
He slowly released her. "What do you mean?"
"Kiss me, Chad Lewis."
What man would decline an offer of a woman he loved if she asked for a kiss? He certainly wouldn't let it pass.
Chad lifted her chin and slowly, he closed the distance between them. It was a gentle and respectful kiss.
There wasn't any spark, she knew. But she had to bear with it. She responded to every move until it became deep but still filled with too much passion.
Chad was the first to let go. He leaned his forehead to hers.
"I don't care if you have someone in mind other than me. But give me a chance to take him out of it. Slowly and surely. I don't mind you using me as a way to take him out of your life. Our lives."
"That's not fair on your side," she said.
"Shhh," he silenced her and put his finger on her lips to stop her from saying anything. "I love you. Just give me time to prove it. Let me be with you."
And she hugged him once more.
Her friends were right in reminding her not to use Chad as a rebound. What they didn't know was that Chad knew and wanted it as well. It was consented, even offered.
But that was before. It was impossible not to love someone like him after all the things that he has done. He only not proved himself. He made her fall.
"This is good. It is a combination of my favorites," she said. "Chocolates. Almonds. Mango. And you."
He smiled. "I'm your favorite now?"
