Part XXXIX: Away From The Bustles Of The City
They were already at the university grounds around 4 AM. They have agreed to meet around that time so they can leave before 5 AM. It was the last activity that they would have for their Community Immersion Program. They would be going to a province to live with farmers and their families. They would be staying there for 3 days, 2 nights. They have rented a jeepney to get to the place.
Raffy slept on Paul's condo so it would be easier for her to get to school. She declined it when Ethan offered to fetch her. When she arrived, Ethan was already there. He approached them and took her things from Paul.
"What time would you guys leave?" Paul asked.
"We're just waiting for one then we'll go," Ethan explained.
He nodded. "Take care of yourself Raf. Don't put yourself in trouble nor in danger. If anything happens, call the lawyer first."
She smiled. "I don't intend to look for one Attorney."
"I'll see after her and I'll let you know if anything comes up. Especially if she becomes a pain in the ass," Ethan kidded.
"Thanks," Paul told him. "Heard that lady?"
She only pouted at his brother. She sure looked cute. "Don't make Ethan my guardian. I am older than him."
"Give him peace of mind Sophia. You're far from your family," he said.
Paul laughed. "Sophia?"
"Yes. That's how I call her when she's being hard headed," Ethan explained.
"I trust you. And thanks for looking after her," Paul said and shook his hand before he left.
They got inside the jeepney when their last groupmate came. He took the seat beside her and handed her a bag.
"I got you coffee though I just put it on our tumbler. I got one for you," he said, handing her a green metallic tumbler and he got another one, similar to his.
"This is mine?" she asked, smiling.
What a nice treat for a peaceful morning.
"Yes. I saw it yesterday when I dropped by Starbucks and Peter told me that's the last two they got. So I thought of buying it for us. I also got some cookies. Mom made tuna sandwich for you too."
"Thanks," she smiled at him. "I love you."
"I love you too," he whispered.
The two decided to sleep first. He put his bag on his lap where she decided to lean. She covered herself with a blanket with their hands interlaced underneath the covers.
"Wake me up if you need to stretch your legs," she told him.
They got to a bus stop after hours of travel so they can go to a restroom. They were still two hours away from their destination. She woke up.
"How was your sleep?" he asked.
"It's okay. How are your legs?"
"It's okay. You should realize you love someone who got a strong pair of legs."
She laughed. "Flirt."
"Faithfully."
They were awake for the rest of the trip. The sun has risen and they were able to get some rest with their sleep. When they got to the place, they were introduced to the people of the community and got divided into groups of three. Each group would be living with a family, help them with their daily activities, and go to the farm as well. Allie was grouped with Ethan and Raffy.
