Part XLI: Synonyms Of Break Up

"Ethan," Emily smiled. She approached him and attempted to give him a kiss but he pulled himself away. "Why such welcome? I missed you. I bet you had fun with your community outing."

"What are you doing here Em?" he sounded tired. Of her and of the argument she had with Raffy. He heard Seff's car get out and the gate closing.

"What kind of question is that?" she laughed, sounding as if nothing happened before. "I missed you. I wanted to see my guy and make it up to him so I am here."

"I told you we're done," he said with finality.

"Okay," she sounded more serious. "I know. I know you told me that things are over between us. And I know the reason why you did it. I didn't really change. I know I lost time for you. I haven't been around. I want to make it up to you."

"Em," he held her arm that was on his face and removed it. "Things are not the same as before. Let me go. Move on. Let's move on with our lives. Separately. We know that it's not working anymore. I've had enough."

"Ethan, can't you see that I can't?" she was pleading. "We've been together for a long time. Why are we wasting it all? We can save what we had. We can work on it. All we need to do is to give us a chance. You have to give me a chance."

"I've given you lots of chances. More than what I can give. More than what I can count. More than what you deserved," he said. It was painful but he didn't feel sorry for saying it.

"I know. I am not denying it. I know it's my fault and I am willing to change it all. Just one chance please, Ethan. I am willing to give up all of my modeling commitments so I can work on our relationship. We can bring back what we had. Just give me the chance."

"Emily," he said. "We had a wonderful relationship. I made mistakes too. It's no longer just about you losing time for us. But at this time, no. We can't be the same as before. I'm sorry. Start moving on. Stop meddling with my life and anyone involved with me."

She was crying.

"I'll ask my sister to see you out."

Ethan walked away from her and was about to go up when she spoke.

"You said it's no longer just about what I did. What else happened?"

"It's none of your business."

"It's about Raffy," she said. "Right?"

"Don't involve Raffy with our problems," he sounded protective.

She chuckled. "It's about her, I know!" she raised her tone.

"Whatever happened to us, it's not her fault! I don't want you involving her with this," he also raised his.

"I'm not stupid, Ethan! I keep on hearing things about the two of you but I never made any comment! What kind of lady is she? Boyfriend stealer?" she said with sarcasm.

"Don't call her that. You have no right," he said, anger very evident on his voice.

"I can call her whatever I want to! She's a slut! She's a freaking whore, a boyfriend stealer! She's pretending to be the nerdy valedictorian hiding behind her books while her hands are filthy dirty!" she shouted.

"SHUT UP!" he bawled, unable to control his temper with the nasty things she said about Raffy. "JUST SHUT UP!" He was pointing his finger on her.

"ETHAN!"

They both looked where the voice was coming from. It was his Mom, standing in the middle of their stairs.

"Did we teach you to shout at anyone, especially on a lady?!" his Mom was pissed off. "Is that how you want your sisters to be treated by other men?"

"I'm sorry, Mom," he said, looking at his Mom but not completely meaning it.

"Both of you in my office now!" she said.

"Mom, there's nothing to talk about," he said on a defensive tone. "I'm your son so please listen to me."

His Mom's hand were on her waists. She didn't say anything but Ethan knows it registered on his tone that he's done with the situation.

"Emily, we're through. We're quits. Move on. Let me go. Forget about me. I don't care how you put it, but we're no longer involved."

Emily stood up proudly. "No one disposes me that way, Ethan. So just wait and you'll see," she said and left.
