My Best Frenemy (Jeff x Jane)

Confrontation

"So Jane. How was your sleep? Or did you change your mind to go out for a walk?" He raised an eyebrow.

"..........yes. I walked around a bit."

"In the human world." He added

"What? No I wasn't." She closed her eyes and crossed her arms.

"Look at me. And say that to my face." He ordered she opened her eyes. He was already face to face with her.
"Jane. Were you in the human world or not? Be honest." He had a pleading look that ate her away with guilt.

"Fine, you caught me. I was in the human world. But I really did just walk a bit." She informed.

"And somehow that walk took you 8 hours from there back here?" He was not at all convinced. What? Was he a detective too?

"Uhhmmm traffic?" It was hopeless by now.

She sighed.

"Did you follow me all day?" It was her time to raise an eyebrow.

"I have my right. Is it bad to know what your best friend is up to?"

"Not as bad as what your gonna get once I find out you stalked me while I'm dealing with my personal business." The girl spat with a warning tone.

"I was not stalking. I just observed from a distance. I couldn't hear you anyways. So even if I did "stalk" you I have no idea what you meant by "personal business". "
She crossed her arms and looked at him with a straight face.

"I closed my eyes when you were changing." He shrugged

"You have no eyelids!!!"

"Hey, I'm not the one impersonated an officer. Nor seduced one for that matter." He looked at her, waiting for a reasonable excuse, which she had none.

"I needed to ok?"

"Why?"

"I just did! Can you please get out of my room now? Please Jeffrey? I'm tired." She had a pleading look.

*sigh*

"Fine. We'll continue this tomorrow." She felt a hint of relief.

"But I want you to remember Jane. No secret is hidden forever. I will find out soon enough. But please, it hurts me that you don't trust me.
No more other secrets after this ok? Promise?"

"Promise." And with that he left the room. Closing the door behind him. She stood there a few minutes, staring at the door he just went through.

"There's something you should remember too Jeff..... No promise is never broken." She whispered.

Jeff's POV

"But I want you to remember Jane. No secret is hidden forever. I will find out soon enough. But please, it hurts me that you don't trust me.
No more other secrets after this ok?Promise?"

Your one to talk..... Be quiet me. If I were you, which I am, I would already confess. I mean seriously,this is pathetic. Even an officer she barely knew got closer than you ever did. Shut up brain!!! I'm even having an internal argument with myself, and here I thought I couldn't get anymore crazy.

"Promise." Jane, I really do want to give the benefit of a doubt. Please don't do things by yourself. It will only put you in danger. And that's what I fear most.

I can't always be around to keep an eye on you Jane. Be careful.

I decided to visit the Underworld.

"Zalgo, can we talk?" I announced.

Immediately he appeared in front of me.

"What's the matter Jeffrey? Is the investigation not doing well?" His voice filled concern.
