Jane's POV
It's been a week since the rescue. Jeff was immediately sent to the infirmary. I saw how horribly injured he was.
His ribs were broken. His head was bleeding. And he had deep cuts on every part of his body.
I felt so much shame. So much regret.
If I wasn't so stubborn and just trusted him. None of this would've happened.
Although his injuries were treated, he hasn't been conscious since the day he arrived. I think the blow to the head caused him to be in coma like state.
I wish he'd wake up. I want to apologize for doing this to him. I want to hear his voice, feel his warm hugs. I just want him to wake up...
"Don't go to sleep Jeff. You won't wake up...." I say as i held one of his hands.
I was always by his side since the day he got here. I didn't leave his room. I couldn't sleep because I was so worried, and I couldn't eat because I was so depressed.
Everyone was worried, not only for Jeff. But for me as well.
The thought that he might never wake up kills me. I don't want to lose my best friend just like that.
If I did.... I don't know what I'd be without him. I'd probably just stay at home swimming in my own pool of tears and regrets.
I can't live without him. He was the other half of me. We did almost everything together. And the fact that it was me that caused him to get hurt kills me even more.
Two weeks have past, everyone was starting to lose hope. I didn't like that, and I snapped. I got angry at them, I would've gone on a killing spree if I wasn't so weak.
Sally was the only one that tried to talk some sense into me. I just couldn't listen to the others.
"Jane.... you need to eat."
"I'm fine. I'm immortal in this world. It doesn't matter if I eat or not." I retorted.
"You may not be able to die of hunger. But you can definitely feel it." She pointed out.
"It hurts doesn't it?" Her eyes held a concerned expression.
"Me causing his death will hurt me more..." I muttered.
"But Jane...."
"Leave me alone Sal... before I snap at you too." I turned away from her.
"Jeff won't like it when he finds out you've been starving yourself because of him." I glanced at the little girl holding a tray of food.
I sighed in defeat.
"You win, Sally." I took the tray and started eating.
We heard something from behind the door. We opened it and found Ben, who fell to the floor.
"Sally does have magic." I heard him mutter. Sally put a hand out. I assumed it was to help him get up.
But he actually gave her money.
"Did you make a bet?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Uhmmm yeah?" He gulped.
"And involved Sally getting me to eat?" I looked at him with an evil glare.
"Bad elf. You don't just bet behind people's back. It's not cool." I smacked his head. Feeling like my old self again.
"Oowww." He held his head where I hit him on. We couldn't help but laugh at ourselves.
