Scarlett loved her family, or what was left of it anyway. It's just that she wasn't a talkative, bubbly girl full of sunshine. She never talked at meals, though her father wouldn't allow for it too.

But she was close to her mother, Camilla. In fact her mother was the only person Scarlett had any hope in after all the school happenings. Scarlett loved her mother dearly, and she would do anything for her.

But too bad she couldn't save herself for her mom.

Her mom had been with her through every single moment that was worth remembering. And even those that weren't.

Scarlett's mom had been with her when she first fell and scraped her knees.

Camilla had been there when Scarlett came home crying, because she had failed her first test.

She had been with her when Scarlett's heart got broken for the first time.

And Scarlett's mom had been there when she was completely and utterly broken and scarred, never to be pieced back together again.

Scarlett's mother wasn't one of those spectacular woman who would draw eyes the moment she entered a room. But she was one of those who would give anything and everything for the people she loved and adored.

She had been told that would harm her, but she knew no more than what her heart knew.

Scarlett inherited this same, dangerous trait from her mother.

Camilla adored her daughter like no one else, giving and providing everything that was in her power.

That was enough, more than enough for Scarlett. It really was.

But according to Scarlett, she herself wasn't enough for her mom, the best person in the world.

However, Scarlett didn't know that her being safe and happy was all what her mom wanted of her.

Her mom blamed herself for her wrong choice in the man she chose to spend her life with, and she never forgave herself for what he put her and Scarlett through, and still was putting them through, unfortunately, because Camilla, how much ever she tried, could not get a job that could support her and her only child.

And thus, she was stuck with her husband, who just held that title because of the money he brought in.

A few more months and Scarlett would be off to college.

A few more months and Camilla will be free from his shackles.

Sadly, those few months never came.
