Raylina

"It was lovely helping you out today Luna" I smile putting the now clean dishes into a cabinet above the sink. Watching over the little kids and watching them as they play around and have fun was really nice, almost felt like the fun my house use to be. I'm pretty sure those little kids have more energy then the kits in my pack did... How many were there again?

"Oh honey, please just call me Ana. Luna sounds too formal." The Luna sprays down the counter with something and starts wiping the top with a rag.

"Okay, Luna- I mean Ana. Sorry I'll have to get used to that." Unless I was alone with my mother, she always expected me to speak to her with formalities. However, I can't remember what she did if I spoke out of line. I drop one of the cups as my hand screams in pain out of nowhere, and the cup shatters over the floor causing me to jump from the sound.

"I'm so sorry, my hand just..." I look down at my hand forgetting what I was just about to say. Pain flared through it, and yet nothing happened to it.

"It's fine dear just go and have some fun. You have an hour of free time before people start showing up from school." Ana shoos me off and I comply heading up to the music room. I don't want to be causing more trouble for Ana.

Running up the stairs I trip, my ankle throbbing with pain. I look down and examine it but nothing looks off. Standing up the pain from my ankle shoots up through my ankle and throughout my leg pulling me to the ground again. Standing up I grit my teeth and make my way to the music room. I fall against the door struggling to get it open as the pain continuously increases. Shutting the door behind me quickly the door makes more noise when I shut it then I wish it did.

Thinking coherently over the pain becomes difficult as it shoots up through my spine slamming me to the cold floor. Gasping in pain I curl up into a small ball. I cry out in pain my body lashing out against my will and hear a bone snap. Then another. It suddenly becomes crystal clear to me that I'm shifting.

I feel my teeth grow in length as my jaw rearranges itself leaving the taste of my blood on my tongue. Whimpers of pain slip past my lips, and I feel the fur spread over my body. Gasping for breath the air rushes into my lungs. Once the cracking of my bones come to a stop the pain fades slowly, but I leave myself on the floor lying on the cold surface.

"Oh my... JOSH!!!" I lift my head and see the Luna standing halfway in the room with her head leaning out of the room.

"What is it, Ana?" The alpha's voice trails off, so I assume it's from seeing me. Is it really that bad?

"Raylina is that you sweety?" The Luna starts to walks over to me but the Alpha holds her back by her shoulder. Does he think I'm a threat?

I try to speak -or meow- but all that comes out is an odd grunting noise. Wait, why do I sound like this... I want to sound normal... Not like a freaking Dinosaur!!!

"Ana, for all we know that could be a crazed were-cat and Raylina could be somewhere else in the house." He pulls her back again when she reaches for me ignoring the Alphas reasoning.

"Raylina sweety... If that is you -which it is- give my idiot husband here a sign..." At that, I let out a laugh. However, the only sound that comes out is more like a snarl...

"See? I told you it was her." The Alpha grabs her arm, still hesitant when she attempts walks toward me again.

"Just wait!" He commands her with the deadly tone of an Alpha and something flashes before my eyes, and for a moment all I can see is a dark wall in front of me and my vision tinted in red. I instantly jump up - startled by what I see, and back away from him.

When he sees my reaction you can see some sort of realization dawning onto his face. I have no clue as to what he's thinking, and before I know what's happening I'm scrambling back onto my feet after falling over the back of the couch.

"Ana, please help Raylina shift back. I'll go... Clean." Josh turns to the door and leaves out quickly as he shuts the door behind him. Hearing a chuckle I snap my head to look over at the Luna who shakes her head softly.

"Raylina..." The Luna looks to me, and the small smile she had on her lips fades as she hurries over to me. I let my back legs slide out from under me, and end up plopping down into an awkward sitting position.

"Um... I'm not sure how you would normally do this. However I think it's the same as your other form, so why not try what you'd normally do for that?" Ana sits down on the couch across from me and motions for me to go on and try shifting back.

Standing back up onto all four paws I begin to imagine myself back into my human form. From my freshly brushed blonde hair to my finally cleaned feet. Slowly I feel my bones shifting and rearranging back into their rightful place. Once the process is finished I allow myself to fall against the wall, before I slide down it and lay onto the ground ready to sleep for the next 10 years.

"Thank you, Ana..." I say breathlessly glad to be back in my human form.

"No problem sweet pea, however, you will have to shift to your kitten form soon. Just try not to push yourself too much." I nod my head and get up with the help of the Luna.

"What did my new form look like?" I accept the glass of water she holds out to me as Ana plasters a thoughtful look onto her face.

"It looked like... Well, I'm kind of stumped on that one. It was sorta like a tiger, but in an old-school film, all black and white. Well, except for the eyes. Those were still that striking blue color filled with light." She smiles, but it fades as she sees my brows furrowed in confusion. Again...

"What's wrong dear?" She sits alongside me as I sip on my water.

"Nothing." I shake my head a bit and smile at her. However, if I'm shifting now, that means it's my birthday is today rather than what I was told growing up.

"You sure?" She rubs my back a bit.

"Yea I'm sure..." I give the best smile I can muster.

"If you say so... Everyone is going to be returning soon, so go get some sleep and remember that tomorrow night is the party. Then you will meet your new pack missy" I laugh a bit at the situation but agree. Then I make my ascent up to Emily's room, shift into my smaller form and lay down waiting for darkness to consume me.
