I walk through the halls remembering how 3 years ago it was hell. The teasing, and bullying, name calling. But once I met him things faded away.
*FLASHBACK*
As I stepped through the halls eyes were all on me.
"Fat-ass." One girl called at me.
"Look, it's her, again." Said another.
I hurried through the halls to my next class. Walking in alone everyone stared at me like I was some human mutation. Maybe I was. My mind said to me. I slowly slipped into my desk taking out my notes. The bell rang and it was deja vu as I walked through the hallway. I hurried to my dorm room to get studying. You could call me a 'teachers pet' or a 'good egg'. I had my own dorm because my roommate demanded another roommate. I finished my studying and curled up with a book to end the night not going to the cafeteria to eat. At least I didn't have a nagging roommate. Or a roommate at all. I fell asleep reading, hoping I could sleep forever, for the rest of my life.
END OF FLASHBACK
Now I walk through the hall with a tall, muscular, senior by my side. I met him the beginning of my sophomore year. It was by my clumsiness actually. I was walking away from a group of the book club members and as I turned around I ran right into him, spilling mine and his books and papers every where. The reaction was not one I expected.
"Here, I'll get it, love." He said.
"N-n-no. It's fine, I've got it." I insisted.
He instead picked up my books and papers handing them to me as our hands brushed.
A little smile formed on my face just thinking back to that day, for what reason? I don't know. We are like brother and sister. I would never date him. Ew. I thought to myself. I looked up at him as we walked in sync with each others footsteps.
"I'll see you after class." He said.
"Don't get into trouble."He said laughing.
"Like I would." I said sarcastically walking into my classroom.
That man was like my other half, my hero, my big brother, my everything. I loved him more than I loved my own family. I sat thinking about all the fun times we had had together. He has always been there for me and is always willing to listen to me. I could call him at 4 in the morning for christ sake, and he'd answer and talk to me. I smiled at the thought. Class started, and just as fast as it started it ended, well in my professors eyes anyway. To my peers and me it was an eternity. I walked out of class and met up with Max. Nobody teased me once I found my personal body guard, or should I say personal soldier. I giggled out loud and max looked at me and shook his head.
"I don't even wanna know." He said laughing.
"Good." I replied smiling.
Neither of us had class for the rest of the day. These were the days I loved. Max and I would hang around together after school and just talk. Talk about everything. Talk about the future, the past, and present. All my worries seemed to fade away when ever Max was around. Just his presence made me feel safe.
"Let's go sit on the bench." Max said pointing to the bench in the court yard. I nodded smiling.
"Race ya!" I yelled running over to the bench. I ran ahead and Max sprinted up to me. He pulled me by the waist, spun me around, and put me down facing the opposite way. He ran over the bench sitting down almost falling off.
"I win." He said laughing. I playfully hit his arm laughing. We both dropped our bags to the ground simultaneously. I sat playing with my fingers waiting for him to break the silence. I sat upright, that was until a body swayed into my side. I glared at Max.
"What?" I asked him glaring. I stared up into his deep blue-grey eyes.
"Just making sure you're paying attention." He said. I looked at him the same way he looked at me when he just didn't want to get involved with my weirdness.
"How about we go to my dorm?" I said to him. As he nodded with both stood up walking back to my dorm side by side. While we were walking through campus he walked right into me, on purpose once again.
"George!" I yelled as he ran away, chasing him to my door. We both got to my dorm. As I opened the door we both collapsed on the floor out of breath.
