ONE LAST TIME

I swat at Ishita's arm. She has been doing this weird clicking sounds with her pen since class started and it is starting to tick me off.
She smirks and does it again. I roll my eyes.
Mature she is.
"Uh huh"
Someone clears their throat and I turn just in time to see Lava's eyes widen.
I turn around hoping there won't be any hazel eyes. Instead I am met with a different pair of blue eyes.

He is sitting perched on a desk with his trademark smirk and a guitar on his lap.
Jace lange.
I flash him a quick smile as he ruffles my hair making me scowl.
And he looks at Lava and his eyes soften before he starts strumming his guitar.
Uh. What the fudge is happening?

And then Jace fucking Lange opens his mouth and I drop my pen.
Holy smokes that voice.
I didn't even notice the teacher is out.

I was so high I did not recognize
The fire burning in her eyes
The chaos that controlled my mind
Whispered "Goodbye", she got on a plane
Never to return again
But always in my heart

He looks up staring straight to Lava. She stands there speechless and I can see the tear buds starting their show.
I chuckle slightly as I listen in awe along with the class as his fingers move fluenlty.
"This love" by Maroon five and he manages to pull it off like a pro.
I can immediately see Jace is one of the 'it' boys of this school.
Someone gags behind me and I turn narrowing my eyes.
She better not ruin this.
She is glaring at Lava and biting her perfectly manicured nails.

I can smell her burning and so I scrunch my nose and continue listening to Jace.

This love has taken its toll on me
She said "Goodbye" too many times before
And her heart is breaking in front of me
And I have no choice 'cause I won't say goodbye anymore

A certain pang of hurt hits me as I listen to the words.
No not today, I silently warn my paper heart.
It has been a week since Grayson and I talked.
The first two days I spent roaming dazedly and distracted. The next two I spent consoling myself since then I have been smiling a lot. I saw him around but never gave him much attention.
He still looks fucking good but his eyes are tired and I don't want to know why.
Ryan.
Well he has been a gentleman. We walked together for lunch and he is still funny and cocky.
The old one had sarcasm laced in every word but this new Ryan always has a sad smile.
I want to know the reason but I don't want to push him further.
We are afterall just friends.

I shake my head as Jace sings the next verse, a soft smile playing on his face and his eyes are only on Lava.

I tried my best to feed her appetite
Keep her coming every night
So hard to keep her satisfied
Kept playing love like it was just a game
Pretending to feel the same
Then turn around and leave again,
But I know...

He stops and gets up suddenly unsure of himself.
I watch as Ishita pushes Lava out from between the chair and desk.
Lava has a soft smile when she approaches him and seeing her smile I see Jace's eyes light up.
He grins and snakes his arms around her pulling her close as he places a butterfly kiss on her shoulder.

Noticeable sounds of aws and whistles can be heard.
I glance to my right as Ishita nudges me,her eyes gleaming.
"So cute!" She gushes.
Who is she kidding with ?
I raise my eyesbrows at her and lean closer whispering,
"Nate"
She averts her eyes as she blushes profously.
He hasn't left her side and he even took her out on a date.
Friendly date she says.
But I know it is everything but friendly.
Suddenly my chest tightens again and I close my eyes calming down slowly.
It  is hard to get him out of my life and even harder to forget his memories and his voice but I am trying.
