ONE LAST TIME

Am I too late?

"What the hell are you so dressed up?"
Sia's voice rings out as I pull up my hair into a high ponytail.
I frown and look at myself in the mirror.
Dressed up?

I am just wearing a long sleeved maroon crop top with black high waisted shorts and black boots.
It kind of looks casual and I didn't want to give Ryan any wrong vibes so I had chosen this.

I raise my eyebrows at her as Briana walks in. She stops short looking at me and her eyes widen.

"Girl you look fucking hot."
I smile at her and then she puts her hands on her hips before barking out,
"Who is it for?"

Sia stands there watching me a smile playing on her lips.
Shit.

I purse my lips before speaking lowly.
"Um..I have a date with Ryan."
I quickly turn away pretending to fix my hair in the mirror but I don't miss out the sharp intake of air Sia takes in and the smile that slips off Bri's face.

I look at Sia's face from the mirror and flinch at the anger that is in her eyes.
Suddenly my outfit seems too desperate even to me.

"Juve"
Her voice is low and sort of like a growl.
"I don't know why you are doing this but I just hope you don't fuck it up."
And with that she walks out but not before throwing something on my bed.

I look at Bri waiting for her reaction.
She looks at me for what seems like hours and then smiles sadly.
"I don't know Ryan so .."
She trails off before picking on her shirt.
But after sometime she looks up and whispers,
"If this is your payback then don't do it Juve."
She quietly leaves shutting the door and I am not so sure anymore.

Why am I even doing this?
It is just a friendly date. He is just buying you oreo shake as a peaceoffer Juve.
I nod my head at the voice agreeing fully with it.
But there is a nagging feeling that I can't shake off.

I shake my head and walk towards the bed to see what Sia had left.

I gasp at its sight and nearly lose my footing.
It's a wristband.
Not just a wristband.
It is the wristband that I had given to Ethan which had our initials together with an infinity.

He had returned it along with a small note. My hands are shaking as I pick it up.
I didn't deserve this Juve. I fucked up our infinity. You deserve someone better. He will be lucky.

I sit down on the bed unable to breath. So he didn't want to keep evem the last reminders of us. He wants everything out of his system.
Burn our memories or whatever is left of us to the ground so that he can move on.

The tears come down hot and thick as I sit there finally shutting our chapter. It is over. Ethan and I were never perfect. His equation with someone will always be better than us.

I feel a pang of jealousy and hatred at the person who will fit him like the last piece of his puzzle.
I don't even know who she is.
This is pathetic.

My phone beeps making me jump up.
Ryan:
I am outside.
I bite my lower lip suddenly unsure about everything.
I go back and forth between ditching him or going downstairs but finally the good girl in me dragged my feet downstairs.

Bad timing.
Sia was giving Ryan the most bittersweet smile ever. They broke their eye contact when my footsteps resonated.

Ryan eyes widens and he smiles shyly.
Who the fuck am I kidding with? Ryan and shy?
Sia smiles at me softly but I know she is just doing it for my sake.
Maybe I need this. I need a break from Ethan and she knows that.

Granted, Ryan is not the ideal guy to go after my heartbreak but he has been nothing but sweet ever since the airport incident.
I smile at him and take in his appearance.
He still looks good with his green eyes and tousled dirty blond hair. Attractive as hell but the spark that once held me to him died long ago.
