Ch. 16 - Pinky promise

'' I think we're supposed to open the scrolls now, '' I said, thoughtfully staring at the tower next to us. '' Because I really have no clue about what to do or where to go next. And I'm also wondering if I can get a doctor because I'm pretty sure that the wound on my leg got infected. ''  

'' Okay, '' Kiba said.  

I suddenly grinned and pointed at him. '' Do you see that you always listen to my orders! I'm the leader of team 8! ''  

'' That doesn't count! '' he quickly said, narrowing his eyes.  

I began doing a happy dance. '' Of course it d-agh, my leg! '' I groaned with pain and grabbed my leg.  

'' Y-You s-sh-shouldn't k-kee-keep doing things l-like tha-that, '' Hinata quietly said. '' Or i-it's g-going to hurt more. ''  

I nodded and joined the others that sat under a tree by the entrance. I wasn't really paying attention when Kiba and Shino prepared to open the two scrolls. I was still thinking about Pand- I mean, Gaara, that we saw earlier. All of my teammates, even Hinata said that I should stay away from him because there was surely something wrong about him and he was dangerous. And me...? What did I think? Well, the truth was that I didn't want to stay away from him. I wasn't sure why but that was just how it was.  

My eyes slowly travelled to my hands. The burning sensation didn't stop, it only got worse every minute. And now I could already see that the fire was already at my wrists.  

I snapped out of my thoughts when Kurenai suddenly appeared from a cloud of smoke in front of us. She proudly smiled. '' You all passed! Congratulations to all of you! Even if you do look pretty bad. ''  

'' Gee, thanks. And we were hoping for a 'you look awesome and keep up the good work', '' Kiba muttered and Akamaru quickly barked, agreeing with him.  

Kurenai just ruffled his hair and then looked at us again. '' So... What happened to you guys? You look pretty bad. '' Then her red eyes suddenly stopped on me. I just flinched because of the fire in my arms, spreading a little bit more. '' Chi... '' Suddenly Kurenai took a few steps closer to me and before I could react she grabbed one of my hands and pulled the black glove of it, revealing the burned marks and the orange seal on it. Her eyes instantly widened with shock. 

Kiba gasped and then looked at me. '' Chi! What is this? Why didn't you tell us about it? ''  

'' C-Chi? D-do-does i-it hurt a lot? '' Hinata questioned, staring at me with wide eyes.  

I really didn't want to answer that. Specially not after seeing the scared expression on her face. 

Kurenai was seriously staring at the seal in the middle of my hand. '' What was the name of this technique? '' she slowly asked.  

'' Secret Fire release sealing technique: Inside burning, '' I whispered, lowering my head. Now I felt kind of bad that I didn't tell anyone about it, considering that they all looked so worried. I couldn't help it but to wonder what would they do if I would tell them that the Sound team that I, Ren and Ryo fought against worked for Orochimaru.  

Kurenai sighed. '' We have to go. ''  

'' Where? '' I asked with confusion.  

'' To find someone that'll brake the two seals before your whole body becomes like that, '' she murmured, pointing at the pink and red burned marks.  

I quickly nodded and stood up. '' O-Okay. ''  

Kurenai looked at the others. '' Good job everyone, '' she said with a slight smile, appearing on her face. Then she poofed away, transporting me together with her.
