Olivia POV
When we got back to the Navy Yard, Gibbs and I went straight to Abby's lab. I stopped in the doorway. I saw Abby sitting at her desk, head in her hands. Apparently all she knew was that I had gotten shot. Again."Oi! Abby!" I yelled. Her head jerked up and she looked at me. A look of obvious relief came over her face and she got out of her chair and ran over. She stopped short of me and gently folded her arms around me, careful of my shoulder. I wrapped my good arm around her. When she pulled away, she held me at arm's length, inspecting me for further damage. Once she deemed the rest of me okay, she turned her focus to my shoulder. "I'm okay, really. Through and through. Also, to make you feel better, the guy who shot me is dead." Abby smiled.
"People should know not to mess with you by now. Four months of captivity and two gunshot wounds later, you're still here." I grinned and nodded.
"Listen, I've got to get back to work. I'll make sure to come down before you leave, okay?" Abby nodded.
"Oh! Before you go, I think you were right with your sniper guess. The bullet we pulled out of McBride is from a military-grade sniper rifle."
"Thanks, Abbs." Gibbs and I said together.
McGee POV
Where was Olivia? I hoped to God that she was okay. Stop worrying, McGee. I chided myself. She's a Marine.ding! My head snapped up, and I saw Tony's and Ziva's do the same. Ziva turned. The doors opened and Gibbs stepped out followed by Olivia. All three of us stood up to meet her. She smiled sheepishly at us.
"I'm fine, guys." she said, still grinning. "Aw, bring it in."
"Gently." Gibbs added. "Careful with her left shoulder." I smiled. "Do we have any suspects?" McGee picked up the clicker.
"Andrew Frederickson. Apparently he had a grudge against McBride because McBride was top of the class and liked by everybody. Accused him of 'showing off' and not giving anyone else a chance." McGee said. "We'll go pick him up." Gibbs nodded.
"I'll try to find some others that might know some more." I said, sitting down at my desk. I started pecking at my keyboard with my right hand. "Screw this." I growled. Using my right arm, I ripped my sling off.
"Hey, now, you still have two weeks. You've not had that on for two hours!"
"Would you keep the thing on for two weeks? You refuse to stay in the hospital, from what I hear." Gibbs just shook his head. "Check. Mate." I said triumphantly. I stretched my arm out slowly to reach the keyboard and started typing away.
After another ten minutes, Tony and McGee walked back in.
"He's up in Interrogation Room Two."
"Liv, you up for interrogation?"
"My pleasure." I said, smiling.
"Sling first."
"Really, hospital ditcher?"
"That's different. That's me. Sling." Stubbornly, I shook my head. Gibbs sighed.
"Tá a fhios agam. Tá mé dhá bhliain d'aois . Agairt a dhéanamh dom ." I know. I am a two year old. Sue me. I said, challenging him. Finally, Gibbs gave up and gave me Frederickson's file. I looked it over and nodded. "Alright. See y'all on the other side." I said, grinning.
I burst through the door to the interrogation room.
"Ooh, I get a pretty cop, eh?"
"Guess so." Andrew smiled. It was rather unsettling. I had a bad feeling about him. "So. You had a grudge against Petty Officer Michael McBride, I hear."
"Yeah, he was a show-off and a dick." I raised my eyebrows.
"Really. I hear you were jealous."
"Who told you that?" Andrew shouted, standing up. I stood too.
"Sit down."
"Who SAID THAT?"
"SIT!" I yelled, holding my hand out behind me to tell Gibbs to stay in observation.
"WHO SAID I WAS JEALOUS?" I kept my hand behind me.
"YOU NEED TO SIT THE HELL DOWN, ANDREW!" I shouted. I stalked to his side of the table and shoved him into the seat with my good arm. "A petty officer who knew you well. Said you two talked frequently. He told us about your conversations about Michael.
"That betraying son of a BITCH!"
"Calm down! The more cooperative you are, the easier this'll be."
"You hurt your shoulder? You've been rubbing at it."
"Not important. What is important is that you tell me why you were jealous."
"I WASN'T JEALOUS!" Andrew roared, bolting out of his seat and rushing at me. He slammed me into the wall, taking care to slam my bad shoulder extra hard, and locked his strong hands around my throat. It'd only been a few moments, but already I was losing consciousness. I couldn't fight back because he had me a good foot off the ground now. I passed out just as the door burst open and I dropped to the floor in a heap, struggling to breathe through what I was pretty sure was a crushed windpipe.
Tony POV
"I WASN'T JEALOUS!" Andrew yelled. Then he leapt at Liv. He smashed her into the wall by her shoulders and started choking her, lifting her off the ground by sliding her up the wall. Gibbs was already at the door to the interrogation room, but the door handle jammed. I could see Liv fading fast. Gibbs finally kicked the door open and he burst in, followed by me, Ziva, and McGee. Gibbs pulled Andrew off Liv, who collapsed into a heap. Gibbs and Ziva took care of Andrew, who was now going to jail for assault of a federal agent.McGee and I tended to Liv. He called 911 and I called Ducky, who arrived shortly before Gibbs and Ziva got back.
"We called 911, but I got Ducky up here to give her immediate attention. I still can't wake her up, and she can't breathe on her own much longer." I said when Gibbs and Ziva were back.
"I called 911 and then I let the desk know they'd be coming for an assaulted agent." McGee said. "One should be leading them up-"
"EMTs, step back and let us take it from here."
"-shortly." The EMTs were strapping Olivia to a gurney and wheeling her to the elevator. Gibbs followed closely behind, telling us to meet him at Bethesda with Jimmy and Abby. God. Her first day back after being shot in the chest by a sniper and she's been shot and assaulted. Why did it always have to be Olivia?
