Liv POV
When I looked in, I could see several men wearing all black, including ski masks, and lots of people in military uniforms laying on their stomachs and backs. Several appeared dead or injured. But my eyes settled on one man who was standing up, clearly trying to bargain with one of the men in black.
"Be careful, McGee." I muttered. "Let us do this." The man that McGee was talking to looked like he was getting angry, and he was waving his hands around emphatically. One hand had a gun. "Boss, can I call Abbs?" I asked. "She told me to keep her updated."
"Sure, tell her to come down. McGee will want to see her when we get him out of there." I pulled my phone out of its holster and quickly dialed Abby.
"Abby's lab!" Abby answered cheerfully. She hadn't heard.
"Abby, come down to D.C. Armed Forces Assistance Base."
"Why?" she asked, immediately suspicious."
"It's McGee." I said, my voice cracking.I heard a gasp on the other end, then a crash. "I'm coming, Timmy!" cried a faint voice. I heard the elevator ding in the distance. "She's on her way." I told Gibbs, hanging up and putting my phone back in its holster.
Bang!
A sudden gunshot echoed across the parking lot, and my head whipped around just in time to see a man with light brown hair collapse.
"Tim!" Ziva and I screamed.
"No, no, no." I heard Tony and Gibbs muttering. Just then, a small red car came roaring up, and Abby jumped out before it had rolled completely to a stop and got all five dogs out of her backseat. It was like a clown car in there.
"Where's Tim?" Abby cried frantically. She ran to Gibbs, who pulled her into a tight hug and patted the dogs.
"Can you tell where Tim was shot?" I muttered to Ziva, not wanting Abby to hear.
"WHAT?" Abby cried. She had better hearing than I thought, or I hadn't been as quiet as I thought. My ears still rang with the sound of the gun going off.
"I think it was his thigh or his knee." Ziva said. "Nowhere fatal." As she spoke, Tim sat back up and slowly stood, not putting any weight on his right leg. Abby started to sob.
McGee POV
After Gibbs got back out of the elevator, he dropped a stack of files on my desk.
"Need you to run down to Armed Forces Assistance Base to drop these off and pick up some files from them." Gibbs said.
"You got it, boss." I replied immediately.
Fifteen minutes later, I put the new files in my backpack, turned to leave, and found myself staring at seven armed gunmen storming in and spraying bullets everywhere. I was forced down on my stomach, my bag on the ground next to me. People yelled and ran for the exits, but I only saw five people escape. Several were gunned down, and a few more were injured, but I couldn't tell how badly. Several minutes after that, the first emergency services vehicle pulled into the parking lot. I gathered my courage and stood slowly with my hands up.
"GET BACK DOWN!" one of the gunmen shouted at me.
"Just tell me what you want." I said. "I'm a federal agent. I can help you get what you want."
"Sure you can." the man said, chuckling. "That's what they all say."
"This isn't the way to get what you want." I said. "Let me help you."
"I don't think I will." the man said.
"Then at least let these people go." I said. "At least those who need medical attention." I pleaded. "Please."
