2 Years Later

Director Fury had stayed true to his word. No one from SHIELD came to get me. No one from Hydra had found my address. Most importantly, he honored my decision to stay away from all of the trouble. With the years gone by I had almost forgotten about his favor that he had yet to use.
But it didn't surprise me when I got a call from an unknown number after the clip I saw on the news.

*~~Flashback~~*

"Government triskelion building in Washington, D.C. gets destroyed by three helli-carriers during a confrontation between the beloved Captain America and a member of an organization called Hydra," said the woman on the news while I almost spit out my coffee.
I sat at the edge of my seat and turned the volume up.

"Officials are now stating that Hydra, the secret nazi science division from the Second World War, was silently thriving right under the noses of the SHIELD organization. Both Hydra and SHIELD have been brought down and are no longer a threat to society. All of their information has been leaked to the public by Natasha Romanov, a former SHIELD agent who will be speaking at a conference shortly. We also advise all people to be on the look out for a man now identified as the Winter Soldier, being that he was the member of Hydra that caused the Triskelion incident. He is currently unconfined a-"

I couldn't listen to any more of it. Hydra was gone? Some part of me didn't think it possible. But the Winter Soldier is now reachable. Somehow in this mess I could help him and maybe even get him a life like mine.
I heard my phone buzz on the table in front of me with an unknown caller flashing.
"Hello?" I answered. "I'm here to cash in a favor," said the unmistakable voice of Director Fury. "Oh shit," I mumbled as I sat back on the couch. "Well, Ms.Doyle, I'm glad to hear from you too." I cleared my throat, "How do I know I can even trust you? It says on the news that Hydra's been up your ass for ages."
"You'll just have to trust me," he said, "I haven't given away your location and that alone deserves a favor. Also, I didn't peg you as a person to go back on their word." The man was playing on my pride now which always worked. "And if I'm not mistaken," he continued, "they've been up yours for longer."

I stayed silent for a while, "What do you want me to do, Fury?"
"There's a friend of mine in D.C. I've arranged for you two to have lunch." I blinked a couple times. "That's it?" I questioned. "You've waited two years to tell me I should go on a date?" I heard a dry chuckle from the other side of the phone, "No, Doyle. Think of this more as a reunion. I've already had plane tickets mailed to you so they should be at your doorstep soon."
"Can I at least know who he is?"
"His name is Steve Rogers. Captain America."

*~~End of Flashback~~*

So that's where I found myself in a crowded diner type place in Washington D.C. I was also there a bit earlier than we were supposed to meet given the fact that I had absolutely nothing else to do, all things considering.
The plane ticket that Fury got me arrived an hour ago. I didn't get any hotel reservations, any vacation rental apartment, nothing. I literally had no place to sleep tonight. I tried to call back the number but it didn't go through. Hopefully, this Steve guy would give me some explanation as to what's going on.

I was waiting for about five minutes before the man himself took the seat in front of me. I glanced up from my phone, put it away, and gave a simple smile.
To say the least, Mr. America had the look of utter confusion, happiness, and worry written all over his face. "Do you know who I am?" He asked me. I nodded slowly, "You're Steve Rogers. Captain America." Steve chuckled dryly, "No, Claire, that's not what I meant. Do you remember me?" Fury must've told him my real name which I guess is logical. "I saved you two years ago from the aliens if you even remember that. You never saw me though," I said as the hopeful look in his eyes disappeared. "I'm sorry, Mr. Rogers. Assuming that Fury told you about my past," I started and he nodded, "I don't have any recollection of my life before Hydra. I barely know anything about hydra itself so if this meeting was for information I'm not so sure I could really help."
