My chest and wrist ached and felt stiff. I fidgeted, trying to get the tightness out of my muscles. Something was wrapped around my torso and wrist, keeping them somewhat rigid.

-Why is it so soft?

I heaved my eyelids open. Everything was blurry at first, but then slowly came into focus. Trees stood above and around me. Orange light flickered on the undersides of the leaves and the a light crackling sound echoed quietly in the air. I was laying on some kind of fur, and a light blanket was draped over me.

Turning my head towards the flickering light, I saw a small fire a couple meters away. Two figures sat by it. The firelight made it difficult to make out any details, but they were clearly a man and a woman.

I struggled to sit up without making any noise, but only succeeded getting up onto my elbows. Not giving up, I pushed up harder, and accidentally released a grunt.

The two figures turned their heads around.

"Looks like she's not dead." The man commented. He sounded young, probably in his twenties. There was a hint of lighthearted mischief in his voice.

"Daiki! Don't scare her!" The woman exclaimed. She also sounded young, but her voice was soft and caring.

"Hehe, sorry Kiyoko." the man named Daiki rubbed his head awkwardly.

"It's alright," I said, "I don't get scared too easily."

Kiyoko stood up slowly. With a start, I realized that she was heavily pregnant.

"Don't worry about me!" I exclaimed, "You should sit back down!"

"I'll be fine," Kiyoko waved away my concern as she lowered herself in front of me, "tell me, how are you feeling?"

"Besides my chest and wrist aching? Fine, I think?"

Kiyoko held out her hand, "Here, let me see."

I held out my wrist, she took it gently and began to unwrap the bandages.

Now that she was in front of me, I saw her face clearly. She had long blond hair that was cut to shoulder length in the front to frame her face. Her facial features were almost dainty, and she had large, deep blue eyes . Her body bordered on being petite, and she wore a simple dress with cut-off sleeves.

"Thank you for helping me." I said.

Kiyoko looked up and smiled at me, "It's no trouble."

"I hope I'm not bothering you too much, but can you please tell me where I am?" I asked a little awkwardly.

Daiki stood up and came over to join us, "We're just inside the southwestern border of the Land of Fire, we were heading north until we found you lying unconscious and injured in the middle of the road. What happened to you by the way?"

-Land of Fire?!

*You asked for it, and now we're here. Congratulations wimp! You weren't careful about what you wished for!

-This is about to get complicated...

"I ran into an idiotic fish-face with a big sword is what happened." I grumbled under my breath.

"Eh?" Daiki looked confused.

"Basically some guy thought that I had something that belonged to him, even though we've never met or seen each other before and he doesn't own what he claimed to be his. Plus he was crazy strong."

"Did he get it what he wanted?"

"Nope. But I barely got away from him though. How long have I been unconscious?" I asked.

"We found you two days ago." Kiyoko looked up at me, "Your wrist was broken along with several ribs, but..."

"But what?"

"They're almost completely healed." Kiyoko furrowed her brow, "I've never seen someone recover from injuries so quickly."

I shrugged, "I'm no stranger to cuts and bruises, they usually don't last very long, so I don't see why broken bones should be any different. I know it can usually take up to several months under normal circumstances for stuff like this to heal though."

"But that's just it, It's only been a few days!" Kiyoko exclaimed.

"Kiyoko, I think you should just stop worrying about it." Daiki said as he placed a hand on her shoulder.

Kiyoko finished inspecting my wrist, then with a satisfied nod, she began to rewrap it.

"Hey, what's your name?" Daiki asked.

-I probably shouldn't use my real name, it might get them in trouble if the Akatsuki find out they were with me.

"Call me Amira. It's not my real name, but I don't want that guy and his buddies coming after after you two because of me."

"Ah-mee-ra..." Kiyoko tested the name on her tongue, "It sounds nice, but I've never heard of it before. Does it mean something?"

"Yes. It actually translates as 'princess', and it's what my mom wanted to name me at first, but for some reason my parents changed it last minute." I shrugged, "I wouldn't really call myself a princess though since I'm not exactly feminine; unless you're talking about those rebellious tomboy princesses that show up every now and then, in which case the name does apply."

"Princess huh?" Daiki said with a snort.

"Laugh all you want, I really don't care. I learned not to give a damn about what people think of me the hard way." I said emotionlessly.

Daiki stopped laughing abruptly, and Kiyoko looked concerned.

"What-?"

"I would rather not talk about it," I cut Daiki off, "let's just say it's a part of my life that I would rather forget."

"Oh..."

An awkward silence came between us, the crackling of the fire was the only sound that could be heard.

Daiki stood up, then walked over to the fire. He rummaged through a backpack and pulled out a bowl. He spooned something into it from a small pot that hung over the fire. When he walked back to us, he held out the bowl to me, "Here, you must be starving."

"Thank you." I accepted the bowl. The bowl was pleasantly warm and heated up my hands.
I took a small sip of the soup inside. It tasted delicious, and a wonderful warmth spread through my body.

"So, who was the man exactly, and how did you end up here? " Kiyoko asked.

================================================================There's chapter two! I'm trying to shorten the amount of chapters since the ones in the beginning were way to short. Sorry about the random chapter numbers right now, I'll try and fix them up as soon as I can.

I'll do my best to upload a drawing of Kiyoko and Daiki soon.

Oh! And please leave your thoughts on Kiyoko and Daiki! They aren't going to show up much besides now, but I really love them, especially Daiki! X)
