Four Hours.
That's the remaining time until Adeline has to leave for camp.
Four Hours.
And she is STILL awake.
Four Hours.

"UGHHHHHH" Adeline groans out loud, hoping to wake up her whole house of only her mother and two cats.

She hasn't been able to sleep, and that's probably because she is a night owl and stays up all night. She looks over at her overflowing suitcases and sighs. How does a girl pack for a month? It took her almost all day after church Sunday to pack all of her outfits. Even though Adeline was pretty boring when it came to fashion, it still took a lot of room to fit all her skinny jeans. She looks up at herself in the mirror and almost laughs at how miserable she looks. Her long black hair is sticking up in a million different places, and her mascara from the previous day was still clumped up onto her eyelashes. She makes a mental note to remember her glasses to cover up the monsters she calls eyes. She looks down at her phone and goes to her group message with some of the girls in her youth group. She has known Kinley and Jessica her whole life, but still feels like they don't actually know each other at all.
Jessica is the definition of CRAZY. Since she is the pastor's daughter, she lives up to the cliche rebellious daughter label. On Saturday's she will go party, and on Sunday mornings she is up bright and early to compensate for her "sins" from the night before. Actually she only goes because she has to, kind of like Adeline. Kinley on the other hand is quite the opposite. She's quiet, funny, and actually a pretty good friend. All three of the girls together make a good trio. Adeline is thankful for their friendship, because they don't judge her for what she believes in.

Kinley: "Can anybody else sleep? I'm wide awake!! "

Jess: "Nope, still totally awake. Probably because I just got home."

Adeline: "Dude, it's like midnight."

Jess: "Your point? Sleep is for the weak."

Adeline: "I guess you're right. I'll probably just take a shower since I have nothing else to do."

Kinley: "Aren't you guys totally excited?! We get to hang out everyday for a whole month! How great is that?!"

Adeline: "Yipee"

Jess: "No offense guys, but I'm totally bugged out about this trip. A whole month without smoking or drinking? That's going to be hard for me."

Kinley: "I believe that's called an addiction. But I could be wrong."

Jess: "Stfu"

Adeline: "hahaha sorry Jess, I'm agreeing with Kinley on this one. But I totally DO NOT want to go on this trip. I'm going to cry thinking about it."

Kinley: 'It shouldn't be too bad. You have us."

Adeline: "Yeah."

           "
BEEP BEEEPP BEEEEEPPPPPP" The alarm screams at four o'clock in the morning. Adeline groans as she locks her phone and lays back in the bed. She had approximately one hour and twenty three minutes of sleep, ,and she was TIRED. After lying for a few more minutes, she throws on her glasses, a t-shirt, shorts, then grabs her bags and carries them downstairs.

"Did you get any sleep?" Her mom questions as she descends the stairs.

"No, not really."

"Are you sure you have everything you need?" She asks again.

"No, not really." Her mom huffs but grabs one of her bags and helps her carry them to the car.

"I know that you're going to have fun. Promise me you'll at least try." Adeline just stares at her mom and gives no answer.

"Please, promise me." Adeline sighs.

"I promise." She mumbles. Her mother smiles and cleans off her hands on her pants.

"Okay then you are all ready to go!" Her mother is overjoyed. She hands the car keys over to Adeline and reaches into hug her.

"I love you sweetie." She whispers into her ear.

"Mhmm." Is all Adeline has to say back. She is not a very sappy person, so when it comes to telling someone she loves them, she can't do it. She knows that it upsets her mother, but every time she hears the words "I love you" she can only hear her father's last words. She climbs into her small Hyundai, and drives off to her church while her mom is waving her goodbye. You would think that Adeline's mother would not want to be alone for a whole month, but insisting Adeline on going proves otherwise.

After about a fifteen minute drive, she makes it to the church. The church itself is not that large but she drives up and she sees about ten new students that she has never seen before. Great. Now she has to deal with old AND new people. She grabs all her things and walks over to Kinley and Jessica. They greet her with a hug and a hungover smile.

"How are you feeling Jess?" Adeline asks with humor in her voice.

"I feel fan-freaking-tastic. Just kidding, I feel like I got hit by a bus." She closes her eyes and massages her temples. "Could I get an Advil over here please!" Adeline and Kinley start laughing at her pain and all the sudden a new girl walks up.

"Hey, I'm Allison." She greets with a wave and a smile. She seems like she could be nice, but Adeline doesn't trust anyone. No-one speaks, so of course Kinley does.

"Hi! I'm Kinley. This is Jessica and Adeline." When Kinley points to Adeline she just gives the girl a nod. Allison nods back with a quirk in her brow.

"Nice to meet you. I have a feeling this will be a great trip." She says over enthusiastically and walks away.

"Yeah." Adeline mumbles, still feeling like something was a little bit off about her.

"Hey everyone! Can we gather in a circle and pray? Then we will load the buses and head on our way!" The youth pastor screams across the thirty kids.

This is going to be just great.
