I pushed away from Connor, looking at who had walked in. "Bear," I gasped, looking at my friend. I felt my eyes widen, and my breathing sped up so much that I thought it was going to make me faint. "Bear...what're you doing in here?"
My best friend shook her head, visibly trying to bring herself back to reality. "I, um-" she stopped talking, coughing to try to get rid of the croaky voice that she had just been blessed with. "I just came to see where you were. You were taking a while." She looked to Connor, back to me. "Your phone was ringing."
I coughed and looked down. My eyes fell upon my shirt that was risen just a little bit. Great. Just great. i could just imagine how red my face was right now.
"Alright. I'm coming now." I quickly pulled down my shirt and headed out the door. Bear followed after me, and without even looking at her, I could tell she had a lot of questions that she wanted to ask me.
"Did you answer my phone at all?" I asked Bear once we reached my room.Bear shook her head. "Should I have?"
"No, it's okay." I turned to Bear. "It was a mistake," I murmured to her.
Bear looked at me confused. "What was?" she asked.
I cocked my head to the door, indicating to the room that Connor and I had been in. "What I was doing with Connor. He came onto me and...I just gave in. I became weak and let my guard down."
My best friend's lips curled up into a little smile. "You don't need to explain it to me. It's not like you made a pact to never go for him. You have no reason to explain it to me."
Shaking my head, I said, "But we were talking about him earlier and I told you that I would never go for him because he's a creep. I just wanted you to know that I didn't lie to you. At least, I didn't mean to." Looking down, I murmured, "I'm sorry."
My best friend came and gave me a hug. "You have nothing to apologise for."
Looking up, I smiled at the blonde haired girl in front of me. "Thanks for understanding." I was about to change the topic to something else until I remembered the reason for why I had gone downstairs in the first place. "Mum said you could stay for the night by the way. I kinda forgot to tell you."
Bear looked like she was going to say something, but she was interrupted by my phone. I looked at the caller ID. Private.
"Hello?" I greeted as I answered the answer button. "Who is this?"
"Is this Mia?" The voice on the other end sounded sheepish, and I couldn't help but smile slightly.
Talking through my smile, I replied with, "This is she." My answer surprised me. What seventeen year old answers with 'This is she'?
I heard the person on the other end smile. "This is Nick Sanders," the male voice replied. Nick Sanders? Who the heck was that? My long pause had obviously given away my confusion, because this Nick guy added, "I'm from school. I'm the one who asked you out yesterday."
Suddenly, the memory came flying back. I had given this guy my number and I hadn't even asked for his name. "Hey Nick," I said. "How are you?"
"I'm fine, thanks. I was just wondering whether you were free this weekend?" His question had been mumbled, but I had still been able to decipher what was asked.
Bear looked at me in confusion. It dawned on me that I hadn't told her about Nick. It also dawned on me that I would have a lot of gossip to spill to her. "Um, yes. Yeah. I am completely free this weekend."
Nick then went on to ask me out for that weekend, which I obviously said yes to. We had agreed upon getting dinner and then going bowling. Nick said his farewells and then hung up. As soon as I put my phone down, the questions started.
