Well, it is finally the weekend. This week seemed to have trailed on for ages. What with school, being kidnapped, figuring out my mother is dating a vampire hunter, figuring out that Connor is a vampire, and, most importantly, finding out that I am the soul mate of said vampire.

So. As I pulled on the black strapless dress over my body, I closed my eyes and took a well earned breath. Tonight, I was going on a date with a very nice guy. It will be normal, and I will try to forget all of the messed up things that I have been through, even if only for one night.

I looked in my mirror, fixing my hair. I had managed to tame it and straighten it, hoping it will remain straight for the night. I applied a little bit of mascara, eyeliner, and lip gloss. I slipped on my white flats and grabbed my little black purse.

"Mia, your date is here," I heard my mother call to me.

Taking a deep breath in, I took one more look at myself and headed downstairs. I reached the door and looked at Nick. Maybe "look" wasn't the right word. In the few quiet, sweet minutes I had, I totally checked this guy out.

Nick was dressed in black jeans, and a nice white button up shirt. He's wearing black converse, and his light brown hair was gelled just enough for him to make it a casual messy. Classy, but not too over-the-top.

"Hi Nick," I said, smiling. I started to notice that I felt my cheeks slowly burning, so I looked down so that no one else would be able to see my cheeks turning red. Why they were turning red was a total mystery to me.

I heard a little chuckle, and I peered up to see that it was my mother who had laughed. I needed to get out of this house right now before she started giving shit to me.

Turning to my mum, I glared at her. "I'll be back home later," I told her, silently begging her to not say anything embarrassing. Instead, all she did was hug me goodbye and told me to have fun.

Smiling, I followed Nick out of the house and into his car. It was silent for about a minute or two before Nick said, "You look gorgeous, Mia." Thanking him, I watched as he turned the radio on.

I was pretty content with sitting back and enjoying the music, using this time to refuel for bowling. At least, that was until a little someone decided to invade my thoughts.

What are you doing with him, Mia? Connor asked.

A date. Duh, I responded, hoping he could detect my sarcasm. To be blatantly honest, I was happy that Connor decided to talk to me. Not because I wanted to talk to him, but because I wanted to rub this date in his face. Yes, we are at a good stage in our...friendship?... but I still want to rub this in his face. This will be his karma for not telling me about the whole "soulmate" thing.

I see that. But why are you with him? You know we are destined to be together, yet you go and slut it up with this guy. How fucking dare you.

Well, obviously Connor is mad. Very, very mad. So mad that, instead of arguing back, I am going to ignore his vampiric ass.

"Here we are," Nick excitedly states as he stops the car. He gets out and comes to my side of the car to open the door for me. I thank him and climb out, waiting for him to lead me inside to the bowling alley.

As we reach the paying desk, I pull out my wallet, only to feel Nick's hand on mine.

With his hand still on my hand, Nick pulls out money to pay for the both of us. We grab our shoes and head to our lane. "Thank you so much for paying for me, but you really didn't have to," I tell Nick as I kick off my flats.

I sit down to put on my bowling shoes, doing them up as Nick replies, "You don't need to thank me. It was my pleasure."

Once my shoes are done up, I smile at Nick. "You see, I do feel bad that you paid for me. Especially since I am going to totally beat you."

Nick threw his head back, his mouth pulling up into a grin as a deep laugh ripped through his throat. "You? Win?" Nick continued laughing, his nose crinkling as a laugh echoed in the space between us.

I pushed his shoulder softly, a chuckle escaping my own lips. "Well let's wait and see who will reach victory first, Mr Bigshot."

***************

"I totally let you win," I told Nick as I picked at my burger that Nick had so kindly bought me from McDonalds on the way home from bowling.

We were both sitting in his car outside of my house, eating our dinner.

Nick sighed, followed by a laugh. "You silly girl. I totally kicked your ass." His smiled slowly fell as he took a look at the watch on his wrist. "Shit," he cursed, opening his door. "I am so sorry to do this, but my curfew ends in about fifteen minutes, so would it be okay if I quickly walked you to your front door and then left fairly quickly."

Looking at the panicked look on Nick's face, I nodded. "You don't have to walk me in. Get home. I'll be fine. Message me later?" Nick nodded, looking really relieved.

"I'll message you," he promises, grabbing my hand. "Have a good night, Mia," he says as I climb out.

Walking up my driveway, I turn to wave goodbye to Nick as he speeds off. Smiling to myself, I walk inside the house. "Mia?" I hear a male's voice say. The voice sounds fairly familiar, but my brain just couldn't pinpoint who it may be.

I turned around, ready to see who on earth may be in my house. My eyes land on a man in his early thirties, his hair dark brown, his blue eyes staring straight into mine. "Dad?" I ask, not too sure whether I would be correct or not.

This man nods, and I watch as my mother walks around the corner and into the hallway. "Mia, meet your father."
