"Bear," I screamed out. "Bear, where are you?"

I walked around, trying to spot my best friend. However, I could not find her anywhere. I called out again, receiving no answer.

Just as I opened my mouth to scream out again, I heard a rustling. Spinning around quickly, I came face to face with red eyes. I felt my own eyes go wide as my heartbeat quickened. It found me.

A smile came to the monster's face, fangs protruding from its top gum where its human canines used to be. The creature reached out and took a lock of my hair, twirling it around its finger. The finger rose to the creature's nose as it took a sniff of my brown hair.

I felt my eyes widen at the sight of this beast, my heart stopping as its face came closer and closer to mine. I felt the warm breath on my neck, teeth scraping along the side of my throat.

"So tasty," it growls, licking up my throat.

I pressed my eyes closed, trying to hide the fear I felt. I felt a sharp pain, the creature's teeth digging into my neck. I called out in pain, quickly biting my lip to hide the fact that I was hurting.

"Open your eyes," it demanded, shaking me slightly. I pulled my eyes open, coming eye to eye with my death. A cruel smile came to the face of this evil creature, and I knew then that it was over.

The mouth opened, fangs popping out again. I was bracing the pain, just as I heard, "Mia."

My eyes flew open, looking into Bear's face. "Bear?" I asked groggily.

The blonde looked worried, wrinkles etched into her face as she frowned at me. "Mia, what's wrong? You were screaming my name."

I blinked, dazed from my sleep. I tried to remember my dream, but I couldn't remember what it was about. "I don't remember," I told her, rubbing my eyes. "May I please go back to sleep? I'm tired, and we have school tomorrow."

Bear nodded, crawling back over to her part of the bed.

I fell asleep, drifting back into the land of darkness.

************

A loud shrill noise sounded, forcing me to wake up. I heard Bear jump up as well, obviously pulled out of her sleep state by the unnecessary beeping as well. "What the-" Bear started, throwing an arm over her face.

Climbing out of my bed, I realised that it had been my alarm that was beeping. "I'm sorry," I muttered to Bear sheepishly as I turned it off. She held herself up on her hand, glaring at me. Grabbing a pillow, she tossed it at me.

Bear checked her phone, sighing when she saw the time. "Who the fuck sets an alarm for 6:30 in the morning?" she swore, letting her head hit the pillow.

I laughed, telling her, "You can go back to sleep. I'll wake you up in an hour." Bear mumbled something that I couldn't hear, so I just left her.

Grabbing my school uniform, I made my way to the bathroom. I had a quick shower, got changed, then made my way downstairs to find that my mum had made pancakes for breakfast. "Where is Bear?" my mother asked, her eyes narrowing.

"Still asleep. She doesn't function at any time before seven thirty," I laugh, picking up a pancake and shoving it in my mouth before my mother could stop me.

"Guess we should wait until she gets up then," she smiles, grabbing the plate of hotcakes.

I gasp, my mouth falling open. "No. No. We don't have to wait. She can have toast or something."

My mum waved the plate at me, tempting me with the delicious breakfast foods that are just out of my reach. "Toast? Your friend cannot have toast."
