"Come on, Bear," I whined. I was met immediately by a glare. "Fine," I started again. "Come on, Susie." No answer. I got down on my knees and grabbed her wounded leg. Kissing the knee, I felt the healing scrapes rub over my lips. A foot kicked me in the stomach.
"Get up," my friend hissed under her breath. "People are looking." Climbing to my feet, I saw that people were, indeed, staring.
I gave Bear my eyes that could fool anyone. "Does that mean you forgive me?" I asked.
A huff, then an angry, "Yes." I started to cheer, but Bear put her arms on my shoulders. "Next time, don't even bother doing your eyes. I don't fall for them; I forgave you because you embarrassed yourself just to gain my forgiveness." I suddenly got pulled into a hug. "I love you, and you really are my best friend."
I pulled away, only to glance at the girl in front of me. "Love you too," I smiled. "And you are my best friend." As Bear started to grin, I asked a question that was on my mind. "Why would you rather be called Susie instead of Bear?"
The blonde haired girl standing in front of me shrugged. "I don't know. I just don't like my name. Susie has always been a name I like, so I kind of adopted it." Another shrug. "It sucks, sorta. I still get called Bear because of the stupid teachers. My stupid mother won't call the school and ask for it to be changed."
Smiling, I immediately felt my bestie's frustration. She really did not seem happy. "Come on. Bear isn't really that bad."
Rolling her eyes, Bear said, "It's what you call your dog. My Aunt has a dog named Bear. Every time I go to her house, both the dog and I get confused about who she's talking to. That's how bad it is. You just don't understand because you have a good name. A sexy name."
I raised an eyebrow. "A sexy name?"
That question earned a nod. "Yep. Just you wait until you do the bed tango. A boy would be fine to scream out 'Mia' while having sex. Could you imagine them with me? 'Oh, yeah, Bear.' How weird does that sound? Again, it sounds like someone screaming out to their puppy dog."
I couldn't help the laugh that erupted from my stomach. "Here girl," I taunted, slapping both my thighs. "Here, puppy puppy." I listened to Bear growl, making me laugh even more. "Trust me, sweetie. When you growl like that, it doesn't help prove your case."
The green eyed girl flipped her blonde hair behind her shoulders, narrowing her eyes at me. "Whatever. As soon as I turn eighteen, I'm changing my name."
I nodded. "Well then. That's only in a years time. You should be excited."
"Two," she murmured, my ears barely being able to hear her. "In two years. I'm younger than you, remember? I don't turn seventeen until next month."
"Right," I nodded my head. "You're sixteen. Sorry, I forgot."
"I figured," Bear said, venom seeping into her words. I could tell that she was pissed at me. Again.
I hugged her, hoping that would cure her madness. It didn't. She just shoved me off of her and walked away, leaving me when the bell rang. At least now it was home time. Thank God.
"Are you ready?" I looked around to see who had said that, when I realised it was Connor.
"For what?" I whispered as I walked out of the classroom, heading the way of the gates.
A tsking noise sounded in my ears. "To meet me."
To say I was surprised would be an understatement. "You're coming to meet me now?" Maybe I sounded a little too hopeful and excited.
