Maddison spent the rest of the day, and most of the night worrying about Tammy, and her mother. Even with Gabe's assurance that no harm would come to the girl, she felt like she was now an accessory to her kidnapping. She may not have had anything to do with her kidnapping, but by her knowing who took her, and not reporting it to the police, she felt as though she was just as bad as Gabe. She considered going to the police, or even calling Tony and telling what she knew. But what could she say, a bunch of Demons have taken the girl so they could ransom her to angels to get back the leader of Hell? If they didn't laugh at her thinking she was playing a joke on them, they would put her away in a looney bin for being crazy.
Knowing there was no one she could call for help, she decided to give Gabe a couple of days, if the girl isn't returned to her mother by then. Then she didn't know what she would do, but she would think of something. She hated herself for the decision but there was nothing she could do.
After hours of stressing Maddison crawled into bed, she tried to sleep with no luck. Her mind kept going back to Tammy, and her poor mother who was worried sick about her daughter. She tossed and turned, punched her pillow, kicked her blankets off and still she struggled to find sleep. She eventually managed to sleep for a couple of hours. When she woke, she felt drained. She laid in bed not bothering with work, she was only planning on doing a half day anyway and since she couldn't call Mrs Brent with an update, she wanted to avoid her office just in case she decided to call, or worse show up at the office. So she laid there in bed, cursing Gabe.
She pulled herself out of bed an hour before Tony would be there to pick her up to go to his cabin. She showered, and dressed in a pair of denim shorts. Cringing at her white legs, she really shouldn't wear jeans every day. She slipped on a black singlet and searched through her wardrobe for suitable footwear. She threw a couple pairs of boots out onto the floor, pushing another pair aside she smiled when she found what she was looking for. A pair of joggers that her mother had brought for her years ago. She had never worn them, and worried that wouldn't fit. But she shouldn't have, her mother had known her sizes. She smelled the brand new shoes wishing that it held her mother perfume on it. She missed her parents. She wondered what they would have thought of her situation with Gabe, and the little girl. She hopped they didn't hate her for not doing anything.
Slipping on the joggers, she reaches in the wardrobe and pulled out her old duffel bag. Dropping it on her bed, she threw in the clothes she had placed there earlier. Underwear, shirts, jeans, shorts, P. J's, and her one and only one-piece swim suit. She threw in a pair of boots just in-case she needed them. Zipping the bag up, she slung it over her shoulder, and walked out of her room.
Grabbing her purse, phone and keys she walked out of her apartment door, locking it behind her. She clomped down the wooden stairs and into the alley. She walked slowly down the alley-way. Tony shouldn't be there for another twenty minutes, she couldn't stand to wait in her apartment so she decided to just wait out-front for him. She wasn't sure if that made her look desperate, she didn't care. She wanted to go on this trip with him. She wasn't sure if she would be great company with her worrying over Tammy. But she was going to do her best not to let Gabe ruin another date she has with Tony. She would forget just for a couple of days about everything that is happening here.
Tony arrived on time, and looked surprised to see Maddison standing there waiting for him. He beamed at her when he climbed out of the car and opened the boot of the car for her to put her bag in. 'You look different.' He said scanning her up, then down. 'I don't think I have ever seen you in shorts before.'
She shuffled her feet, wishing he wouldn't look at her pale legs. 'It's been a while since I have worn any.'
'You should wear them more often.' He said closing the boot, and walking over to the passenger door, opening it for her. 'You look great in them.'
