Okay so the text had sent you into a panicked frenzy. John had arrived back at the flat and you were pacing. You hadn't yet told Mycroft about Moriarty because at the moment you were placing all your trust in Sherlock.
"Y/n. I say this as kindly as I can. Will you sit down and stop pacing. It is giving me a head ache." John said from his chair. You had paused to look at him and just shook your head before returning to your walking. John sighed and Sherlock had snickered. Sherlock had been bent over a microscope looking at who knows what. John stood up and leaned against the doorway to the kitchen.
"I want to help." He stated plainly. You rolled your eyes and Sherlock just hummed in response.
"Sherlock there is a life on the line. What can I do to help." John stated again. Sherlock just ignored him still looking through the microscope. Johns phone dinged alerting the whole flat that he had a text message.
"He is texting me now." John stated. You had glanced over at them in the doorway and stopped walking. Sherlock once again just hummed.
"Sherlock. He wants to know how the case is going. What do I tell him." John almost whined. Mycroft could be a pain.
"How did he even get my number?" John whispered suddenly realizing this.
"He is the government. You should have seen the file I got on all of Sherlock's acquaintances." You said with a chuckle. They both turned to you for a second and you flushed. Sometimes you forget what you can and cannot say.
"Tell him I am putting my best man on it." Sherlock replied. He was once again looking into the microscope.
"Okay. And who will that be." John asked. You sighed and looked at his back.
"You." Sherlock answered looking up from his microscope to give John a smile. John sighed and grabbed the file that was sitting on the edge of he table.
"Well, I am going to pay Mycroft a visit." John muttered as he left. With that small distraction gone you had started pacing once again. You watching the ground wrapped up in your own head. It was quite the surprise when you bumped into Sherlock.
"Sorry." You muttered. His hands had grabbed you waist when you bumped into him and he steadied you. You looked up at him and noticed the blush you could feel burning on your cheeks. He stared at you watching everyone of your reactions.
"Sorry I for-" Johns voice cut through the tension that was filling the room. You stepped away from Sherlock and looked at John.
"Forgot what?" You asked trying to act normal. John stepped passed you and Sherlock to his chair where his coat was. You nodded and wished him good luck.
"Y/n, you are a contradictory person. An enigma. I have been watching your reactions. Most of them are reasonable. When I called you an idiot you responded with anger. A lot might I add, but under that anger was hurt. You were hurt that I would classify you as so small. Then again when you were talking about being captured you were being stoic. You showed no emotion what's so ever. You know I could see how much pain there was. You hated everything you became because of those months. And then in the hall of St. Barts. You acted as if I was joking when I told you to put your shoes on, but you were happy I had showed any emotion. And now. Your eyes are dilated and you have stopped fidgeting. You are so smart and honestly brilliant by most standards yet you let yourself be weighed down with emotion. Even more you hide what you truly feel." Sherlock whispered. You had slowly been turning more and more red. Your eyes still hadn't looked up to his and bit your lip. He read you like an open book. Which was fine because you were used to that.
"Sorry if my emotions are too much to handle." You whispered back. It was all you could think of as a response. You stumbled away from him and flopped into John's chair. You closed your eyes and took a steadying breath. Sherlock walked away back into the kitchen. Your phone dinged with another text and you cringed. That sound had the ability to strike fear into your heart.
