Chapter Seven

"I want food," Jase whined from the backseat of Lyle's truck. This was probably the twentieth time he'd said that, so I was getting really close to leaning back there and punching him in the balls.

"We might as well stop," Kiptyn started, his face red with irritation, "We're not gonna make it to the fucking gig anyway."

Lincoln let out a deep breath from her position beside me, glancing at her watch for the fifth time. Whenever my stomach growled, I couldn't help but mentally agree with Jase and Kiptyn. It was almost six thirty and we were still a good hour away from our next stop, so we obviously weren't going to make it on time, if we ever even made it at all.

"What the fuck do you want me to do then?" Lyle practically yelled from the front seat. "Should I call the bar and kiss their asses so they don't give us a bad rep?"

"Babe, calm down," Cealy said in a soft voice from the front seat, placing a hand on Lyle's shoulder, which he immediatley shook off.

"We can't help the fact that we had a flat tire, man."

"I'm tired anyway," Lincoln started, causing nearly all of us to look at her. She hadn't said anything at all since we'd gotten into the car. "I don't really feel up to singing."

Lyle angrily shook his head. "That's five fucking hundred dollars each that we're just pissing away."

Kiptyn rolled his eyes. "We're playing in fucking Vegas tomorrow, dumbass. We'll make double that plus some."

"Just let me eat!" Jase yelled from the backseat.

Sadie groaned. "Please just stop at a damn Wendy's or something so this shit head will stop complaining."

"As long as I'm your shit head," Jase grumbled.

"Please for the love of God!" Sadie whined.

I sighed with relief as Lyle turned on his blinker and got off at the next exit, pulling into a Waffle House. I wasn't the biggest fan of waffles, I was more of a pancake kind of girl. But I was not going to complain, because food was food at this point. I probably would have eaten a raw cow by now.

Okay, not really, but I was hungry.

Whenever we all piled out of the car, Jase threw his fists up into the air. "Thank God! Fucking food!"

Sadie and I laughed as we followed everyone else into the restroom. I hadn't really felt too peachy since the conversation with my mom and Kiptyn, so just Sadie's presence was making me feel okay again. Especially whenever she looped her arm through mine.

"You okay?" She asked, pushing the door open which caused a bell to jingle.

I nodded my head. "I'm just extremely tired."

"Mentally and physically, I bet."

I gave her my best you have no idea look and took a seat at the table with the rest of the crew. Luckily for me, I landed right across from the devil himself.

Everyone was quiet for the first few minutes and after our waitress took our orders, I'm pretty sure I almost fell asleep. But, of course that didn't last long because suddenly a way too loud Michael Jackson song was booming out of the Juke Box.

I glanced over towards the noise and saw Jase grinning from ear to ear. Of course he would waste a dollar just to play a song like Beat It.

"I fucking hate him sometimes," Kiptyn said, resting his head in his hands.

"Tell me about it," Saide groaned from beside me.

Even though the music was way too loud, it was still hard not to tap my foot to the beat. Especially whenever the employees started to sing along, one of them even moon walking.
