Chapter Six
The next morning, I woke up before Lincoln and Sadie. They had apparently decided to share a bed, because all I saw was Lincoln curled into a small ball and Sadie sprawled out across more than half of the white sheets.
I grabbed my phone from the nightstand beside my bed and clicked the home button. I mentally groaned whenever I realized that I could have slept for an entire hour longer. And of course, I had multiple texts from both my mom and Drew. I even had a missed call from Drew's mom.
I set my phone back down and crawled out of the bed, walking into the bathroom and shutting the door. I turned the shower on and stripped out of my clothes, neatly folding them and placing them on the counter before I stepped into the steamy water.
Instead of standing under the hot water for an hour like I wanted to, I washed my hair and body rather quickly. As soon as I was done rinsing the conditioner out of my hair, I turned off the shower. I grabbed my towel from the counter and dried off, ringing out the excess water in my hair.
I quickly brushed my teeth and brushed through my hair before walking back into the bedroom. Of course, Lincoln and Sadie had barely even moved since I'd gotten in the shower. I grabbed a pair of underwear and a bra out of my suitcase, a long with a pair of jean shorts and a plain black vneck.
After I dressed, I packed all of my stuff back into my suitcase and put it next to the door. I walked back into the bathroom and put on a little bit of foundation and mascara before pulling my hair into a side braid.
I slipped on my flip flops and headed out of the room, thankful that I was on the first floor. My stomach was practically eating my backbone, and the smell of bacon from the eating area was not helping.
I almost jumped for joy whenever I saw that nobody was even in the small carpeted area that held a few tables and a buffet of food. I definitely liked the idea of having all of this food to myself, like a true fatass.
I fixed myself a plate of nearly everything on the buffett and sat down at a table in front of one of the TVs, immediatley taking a bite of my eggs.
I was shoving bacon into my mouth whenever Kiptyn decided to sit down in front of me, a cup of coffee in his hands. He smirked at me as I swallowed the bacon in my mouth, raising my eyebrows.
"Are you lost or something?" I asked, taking a sip of my orange juice.
He stared at me for a second, his blue eyes making me nervous. "Think you're too good for me or something?"
I narrowed my eyes at him. "That's not what I said."
"But you were thinking it."
"Don't put words in my mouth."
"Bet Drew wishes he could put something in your mouth," He smirked.
I put my fork down on top of my plate, my appetite completely gone. "You are so disgusting."
He shrugged. "So I've been told."
I crossed my arms over my chest. "What do you want?"
He reached over and grabbed a piece of bacon off of my plate, popping it into his mouth. He chewed for a few seconds before taking a sip of his coffee, immediatley plastering the smirk back onto his face.
"Why did you come on this trip?" He asked, leaning back in his seat.
I stared at him. "Why do you care?"
He shrugged. "It's my band."
"Actually, it's Lincoln's band," I pointed out.
He rolled his eyes. "Stop trying to change the subject."
I leaned forward against the table, resting my elbows onto the cool surface. "I was invited."
"That's a bullshit reason."
"Are you calling me a liar?"
His stare suddenly became hard, his blue eyes suddenly becoming icier. "Why did you come, Dallis? Really."
I was quiet for a minute, my lips parting slightly. I didn't really know what to say. I knew I couldn't actually tell him, because the odds of Kiptyn actually caring were slim to none. He'd probably just tell everyone and embarass the hell out of me.
"You're going to go back," He let out a breath, "Right?"
I raised my eyebrows. "Back where?"
"Home."
I didn't answer, looking down at my nails. I examined the chipping pink polish, trying to avoid his question.
"I don't know why he left," Kiptyn started, "But I have a feeling its the same reason you did."
I looked up at him, my pulse beginning to race at the mention of Austin. "You don't know anything about me," I swallowed the lump in my throat, "Or my brother."
He shook his head. "You're wrong. Austin was practically my wingman."
It was so weird to me, that coming on this one trip, would lead to me finding out so many things about my brother. I thought I'd known him backwards and forwards, when surprisingly, I really didn't know him at all. Sure, I knew he loved Crossing Lincoln, but I had no idea that he had been close friends with Lincoln or Kiptyn's wingman.
"Why are you talking to me about this?" I asked, staring at him.
He scratched the back of his neck. "I don't know why he asked me, but he did."
"Asked you what?"
"The day before he left, whenever he came to our band pracitce," He shrugged. "He asked me to look after you."
I was going to go off on Kiptyn then, and tell him what an asshole he was, even though he was only doing what my brother asked. I was going to lay into him.
"There you are," Sadie said, coming up behind Kiptyn, and completely interrupting whatever I was going to say next. She was dressed in a pair of jean cutoffs and a red tank top, her hair still wet from her shower. She glanced at Kiptyn suspiciously. "Am I interrupting something?"
I shook my head, giving Kiptyn a look. He plastered his smirk back onto his face and stood up, sipping his coffee. He motioned for Sadie to sit in the now vacant seat and she gave him a look. I watched him as he walked away.
Sadie snapped her fingers at me. "Okay, what the hell was that? You're face was so intense."
"Did you know that Lincoln was really good friends with Austin?" I asked, watching as her face dropped.
"No," She shook her head slowly, "I didn't."
"Did you know that Austin and Kiptyn were close?"
Her eyebrows furrowed. "Are you kidding?"
I shook my head. "That's what we were just talking about. Austin told him to watch me the day before he left."
"Why would he tell Kiptyn to watch you? He knew how much you hate him."
I stood up from the table, grabbing my plate. "I don't know, but I'm going to find out."
