Chapter Eleven

I was glad whenever we finally left Vegas. It obviously hadn't been a very pleasant trip for me and I was more than happy to leave the sin city behind. Moving forward was something that I really needed to focus all of my energy on at this point.
We'd left Vegas on Thursday morning around six and arrived in Phoenix, Arizona around eleven that same morning. They had a gig at eight, which I didn't go to. I'd stayed back at the hotel with Sadie and watched Lifetime movies until I fell asleep.
Going out with a shinner on my face wasn't exactly at the top of my things to do list.
Friday morning we left around ten in the morning and ended up in Albuquerque, New Mexico at around four in the afternoon. Since the band didn't have a gig, we ended up going out to dinner at some pub that had an extremely chill bar. Lyle and Sadie had gotten shitfaced, which only made Cealy annoyed and Jase even hornier than usual.
Now that it was Saturday and a solid three days since the whole incident, I was glad that nobody was mentioning everything that happened anymore. I still had the bruise on my face, but I hadn't taken any make up off of it because I didn't want anyone to have a reason to bring it up. Even though it caused my eye to swell for the first two days, the swelling had completely gone down now, thank Jesus.
I was currently sitting on one of the couches behind stage while the band played. Sadie was sitting with me, sipping on some girly cocktail and flirting with a few guys that were a part of the stage crew. There were also a few other girls sitting on two other couches, most of them already drunk idiots that were giggling about meeting the boys.
Since when did Crossing Lincoln get groupies?
"Anyways, the drummer is just so hot," One of the girls said as she twisted a piece of bleached hair around her finger, "I would totally bang him."
Obviously she had a shitload of self respect.
I leaned back against the couch that I was sitting on, taking another sip of my water. The guys wanted to drink after they finished performing, so I took on the role of designated driver. Cealy said that she would do it, but I could tell that she wanted to get drunk with her little lover boy. And Lincoln said that since she hadn't been so much as buzzed the entire trip that she also wanted to get shit faced.
The joys of being the only sober one were limited.
When I heard Lincoln say "Thank you guys, you've been a great audience," I was beyond thankful. Ever since the whole incident, I was pretty much done with the whole going to gigs, clubs, and bars altogether.
Whenever the guys began to come backstage, the girls began to stand and squeal, much to my annoyance. The one with the bleached hair immediatley walked over to Kiptyn, giving him a ridiculously long hug for congratulations.
I rolled my eyes and stood up as I took the last sip of my water. I tossed the bottle into the trash can and turned back to ask Sadie to go with me to get another one.
I quickly changed my mind whenever I saw her tongue being shoved down one of staff's throat. I glanced around for Jase and whenever my eyes landed on him, he did not look happy whatsoever.
It's not that Jase and Sadie were official or anything, but I could totally see why he would be hurt. The guy was obviously head over heels for her, Sadie just wanted to ignore it.
I blamed Austin for that.
I walked over to Jase as he began to walk out of the backstage area. I followed him to the bar and whenever I reached him, his jaw was clenched and he looked pretty pissed.
"She's drunk, Jase," I said softly.
Jase shrugged and hopped up onto one of the bar stools. I took a seat on the one beside him and watched as he chugged half of his beer in record speed. "We're not dating. She can do whatever she wants."
"She really does like you."
The corner of his mouth turned up in a smirk. "She has a funny way of showing it."
"She's not very good at showing her emotions," I started, "You know that."
He turned to look at me then, his eyebrows furrowed. "I liked your brother. We were pretty good friends."
I stared at him for a long second, wondering why he was bringing this up. Of course I knew they were friends.
"What's your point?" I asked, looking down at my fingernails.
Jase took another sip of his beer before slamming it down onto the bar, making me jump. I'd never really seen him upset before, so this was all new to me. He'd always been incredibley happy and hilarious, not red faced and angry.
"He's the reason she's like that," Jase said, shaking his head, "He really fucked with her head."
I raised my eyebrows. "Jase, what the hell are you talking about?"
Jase shrugged again. "I'm not stupid, I know she still loves him. She's always loved him."
I stared at Jase, completely dumbfounded. Of course I knew that Sadie and Austin had a fling and that she lost her virginity to him. I also knew that she'd liked him more than she'd ever liked anyone, but love? Love was one of those words that Sadie didn't say often.
"Did she tell you that?"
Jase smirked. "All those parties we went to before Austin left, she'd be with me or some other guy. But she would never take her eyes off of him."
"That doesn't mean she loves him," I pointed out.
Jase rolled his eyes. "I'm a good guy and I'm great to her. If she didn't always have Austin in the back of her mind, she'd want to be with me the way that I want to be with her."
He chugged the last bit of his beer and pulled the beanie off of his head, running his fingers through his unruly hair. He closed his eyes tightly and let out a small groan before looking over at me again. "I love her, you know."
I nodded my head and gave him a sypathetic look. "I know."
He snickered. "Everyone knows."
"You should tell her."
"It wouldn't change anything," He shook his head, "She's always going to be waiting for Austin."
I rested my elbows on the bar and held my chin in my hands. All of this talk about Austin was beginning to hurt me. Not because Jase was pissed at him for hurting Sadie, but because it proved that Austin really didn't care about her feelings. Just like he didn't care about my parents' feelings. Just like he didn't care about my feelings.
I felt tears pushing against the back of my eyes. I didn't know how much more I could handle. In the span of one week I'd learned I was adopted, that my whole life was a lie, I'd broken up with my boyfriend of almost three years, and I'd been assaulted.
I didn't know how much more I could take. Ever.
After nearly ten minutes of the two of us just sitting there, neither of us saying a word, Jase finally broke the silence. "I'm sorry, Dallis. For saying all of that."
I shook my head. "Don't worry about it."
Jase was about to say something else, but he was cut off whenever Sadie suddenly walked up. She was stumbling slightly and her eyes were red with drunkeness. She slung her arm around Jase's shoulders and placed a sloppy kiss on his cheek. Jase visibly tensed and for a second, I thought he was going to tell her to fuck off.
Instead, he relaxed and wrapped his arm around her waist and placed a kiss on her temple. My heart melted at the sight of his love for her, especially after just venting about how much she pretty much annoyed him.
"I'm gonna go find Lyle, Cealy, Lincoln and Kiptyn," I said to Jase, "And then we can go."
Jase nodded his head while Sadie nuzzled her face into his chest. I hopped off of the barstool and headed towards the dancefloor. I immediatley saw Lyle and Cealy dry humping each other and simutaneously making out. It tapped on Lyle's shoulder and he turned around with his eyebrows raised. "What is it?"
"I'm gonna find Kiptyn and we're heading out of here. Tell Lincoln," I said. Lyle nodded and said something to Cealy that I didn't hear because I was headed off to find Kiptyn.
I didn't see him anywhere on the dance floor, so I walked backstage. I opened the door and nearly threw up whenever I saw what was happening on one of the small leather couches.
Kiptyn was laying on the couch with his eyes pretty much shut and his pants around his ankles. On top of him was the bleached blond, her boobs literally popping out of her top and her skirt raised.
I put a hand over my mouth and muttered a sorry before quickly backing out of the room. I could not believe what I just saw. Yeah, I knew Kiptyn loved vagina. But really? He didn't even look half concious!
I leaned against the wall outside of the backstage door and took a deep breath. Yeah, I'd watched movies that obviously had sex scenes in them. But that was completely different compared to walking in on a girl riding a guy. I felt like I was going to have nightmares, for Christ's sake.
I took another deep breath as I mentally debated if I should wait for Kiptyn or if I should just go back to the bar and sit with Jase and Sadie.
Fortunately, Kiptyn made that decision for me by walking out of the door. He was buckling his belt and whenever he saw me, he flashed me a lazy grin. "Sorry you had to see that."
"You're drunk," I pointed out. His eyes were drooping and his speech was beyond slurred.
He smirked and pointed a finger at me. "You sure are smart."
I rolled my eyes. "Everyone is ready to leave."
"Then let's go, baby!" Kiptyn grinned, grabbing my hand and pulling me behind him while he stumbled over to the exit. I glanced back at the bar and saw that Jase and Sadie were no longer there, which meant they had to be at the car. Since I had the keys, they were probably waiting for us outside.
"I can't believe I'm letting you touch me when you just fucked that bleached blond slut," I muttered as we walked through the parkling lot towards the SUV.
Kiptyn glanced at me. "Is s-somebody jealous?"
"Definitely not."
Kiptyn wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me against him as we walked, a huge grin still on his face. "Just admit it," He slurred, "You like me."
"Kiptyn, stop talking."
He just laughed.

Whenever we got back to the hotel, Kiptyn's intoxication level had pretty much doubled. I'm not sure if it was because the alcohol just really hit him, or if he'd managed to slip in something really strong between leaving the club and arriving at the hotel.
Either way, he was toast.
Lyle and Cealy were both shitfaced, so they made their way up to their room. Jase and Sadie were the first to jump out of the SUV and Lincoln, who was beyond drunk, stumbled into the hotel and hopefully up to our room.
As for Kiptyn, he was still laying in the backseat of the car, his feet propped up on the door. He was mumbling the words to some song, only some of it coming out in an actual singing voice.
"Kiptyn," I sighed, hating the fact that I felt obligated to babysit him, "We need to go to the room."
I had the door closest to his head open and I was leaning against it. He looked backwards at me and raised his eyebrows. "You want to have sex?"
I rolled my eyes. "No, you incoherent shithead. I want to go to sleep."
"Hey," He slurred, "You don't have to insult me."
I let out a deep breath. "I'm really not in the mood to deal with you."
He sat up then, turning to look at me. He was having a hard time keeping his eyes open in his drunken state. "I have always hated you."
"The feeling is mutual."
"But," He said, holding up his hand, "I kind of like you now."
"Like me?"
He nodded his head vigorously. "I always thought you tried to be soooooo perfect. You always acted better than everyone," He attempted a smirk, "Even though we all know you're not."
"You know, I could leave your ass out here."
"But now, I think you're down to earth," He licked his bottom lip and leaned back, "And I finally realized how hot you are."
"Okay, big boy," I said, grabbing his arm, "That's enough."
I tried to pull him so that he would get out of the car, but instead, he pulled me. I tripped over my feet and fell into the car, my stomach hitting the side of the seat. "Ow, shit."
I glanced up, trying to regain my balance. Kiptyn was staring at me with his gorgeous blue eyes, a small smile on his lips. He leaned in closer to me so that our faces were mere inches apart. "I thought you were sober," He whispered.
"I am," I said, suddenly breathless at his closeness.
He brushed a peice of hair out of my face, causing me to flinch. "If I was Drew, I never would have let you go."
The mention of Drew caused my stomach to twist and I immediatley stood up. This wasn't right. No matter how many revelations Kiptyn went through to realizing that I wasn't a cold hearted bitch, I would never like him. Ever.
So why did I have butterflies?
