Emily had been wearing bigger, almost baggy shirts to work for a week to hide her pregnancy and no one on her team had seemed to notice. She had honestly expected JJ or Penelope to notice and say something but they hadn't.
What she didn't know that both of them had noticed but were just waiting for her to say something to them. JJ and Penelope had first noticed when they had hugged her, which caused her to wince because her chest was sore. JJ and Penelope had talked about hat that could have possibly meant. JJ had finally come to the correct conclusion when she had noticed the bigger shirts, then she has told Penelope.
The team gotten two days off after the most recent case. She had decided to use at least one of the days to her advantage so she could finally go to the doctor's, which ended up being scheduled for the second day.
She had called JJ and Penelope to come over to her place because she had to tell someone and she wasn't ready to tell Hotch about their baby yet. Sure, she would tell him sooner rather than later but she wanted to figure out a way to tell him.
She was brought out of her thoughts when she heard a knock on the door. She stood up from her couch and fixed her shirt to cover her stomach. She walked to her door and looked through the peephole before she let her friends in.
Once they were all settled in her living room, she looked between them before she said," I need to talk to you guys about something."
JJ and Penelope already knew what she needed to talk to them but they decided to play along . Penelope smiled slightly at her before she said," What about Em?"
Emily glanced down towards her stomach before she looked back up at them. She said," I.. I'm.. pre.."
"Pregnant." JJ finished for her.
Emily nodded at her two friends. Before she knew it both of them where hugging her. She smiled when they all pulled away.
Penelope said," So how far along are you? Have you gone to the doctor's yet?"
Emily said," I believe I'm right around 8 weeks along and no, I haven't gone to the doctor's yet. Speaking of the doctor's, I don't really want to go alone. If you guys aren't doing anything tomorrow afternoon, would you be able to go with me?"
They both nodded at her before JJ said," Of course, we'll go with you Em."
They had a girl's afternoon and evening before they had to go home. Tomorrow afternoon came fast, before Emily knew it, they were waiting for her name to be called by one of the nurses.
"Emily Prentiss." A women with light brown hair and green hair.
Emily looked up when she heard her name. She waited a moment before she stood up, quickly followed by JJ and Penelope. JJ squeezed her hand before they made there way to where the nurse was.
The nurse took Emily's weight and height before she led the took a room. She smiled slightly as she said before exiting the room," The doctor will be with you shortly."
What felt like a hour but was actually only about ten minutes before the doctor entered the room. She said," Hi, I'm Doctor Amanda Hansen, you must be Emily."
Emily nodded before she looked towards her friends and then back at her doctor. She said," These are my friends, JJ and Penelope."
They waved at the doctor before she waved back at them and smiled slightly. She turned back to Emily and said," Let's get the ultrasound started, shall we?"
Emily rolled her shirt up before she watched Dr. Hansen turn on the machine. Dr. Hansen grabbed the gel and said," This is going to be cold."
Emily shivered slightly as the gel was applied to her stomach. Her eyes went up to the screen wen Dr.Hansen started to move the ultrasound wand around on her stomach.
Dr. Hansen pointed towards the screen and said," You see right there?"
Emily nodded before she continued," There's baby number one and there's baby number two."
Shocked for second before she said," Twins? I'm having twins?"
Dr. Hansen nodded before she said," You're eight weeks along." She paused briefly before she continued," I'm going to go print the ultrasound pictures, I'll be right back."
A few moments later she was back with the pictures. She smiled as she handed them to Emily. She said," Before you leave would you like to hear the heartbeats?"
Emily nodded quickly. She watched as Dr.Hansen flipped a switch on the machine. Soon after, the sound of two heart beats filled the room. Tears pooled in her eyes. It wasn't long before the happy tears of Emily, JJ, and Penelope had finally spilled out.
