Yvette
Tell ya daddy stop his hating
Cuz I be wearing braids and rockin jerseys daily
But that don't mean I'm thuggin though
He don't want me with you
But I ain't tryna hear it though
But I know that if he knew you
He would understand ya
Know that you're my man and
You would never hurt me no
Let me come and see you
So that we can be alone....
I yawned as I heard Southside playing throughout my room. It was one of my favorite slow jams which was why I had it set as my alarm.
"Yvette! Honey wake up! You don't want to be late for your first day of school!" my mother called out.
I checked the time to see it was 7:00 already. My name is Yvette Marie Mayers. I'm 5'2 with an hourglass figure. I have a milk chocolate complexion, deep brown eyes, and black hair that falls right above my butt. Today was my first day of twelfth grade and for once, I was excited. Something felt different, but in the best way possible, you know what I mean? I finally hopped out of bed grabbed my towel and hurried into the bathroom. I brushed my teeth then stripped down and hopped into the shower. The warm water beating aganist my skin felt so good. If I didn't have to go to school I would've spent my entire morning in there.
I wrapped my towel around my body and walked back into my room. Hmm what should I wear I thought to myself as I brushed my hair. I settled with a black maxi skirt, white crop top, jean jacket, and gladiator sandels. I swiped on some eyelliner and mascara and applied some nude lipgloss. I wasn't in a mood to do my hair so I gathered it up in a neat bun. "Damn I look good" I said outloud as I checked myself out in the mirror. My skirt complimented my hips and ass quite nicely. I grabbed my bookbag and made my way straight to the kitchen.
The smell of hot pancakes filled the air as I stepped out of my room. As I turned the corner I watched my mom stack a pile of pancakes on a plate adding syrup, whip cream and a few strawberries sliced on top, just the way I liked it.
"Good Morning Ma" I said as I kissed my mother on the cheek.
"Morning babydoll! Don't you look nice. What boy are you trying to impress?"
"Can't I look nice for school without being harassed?" I pouted as I grabbed my breakfast plate.
"I'm kidding Yvette. Now your father and I will both be working late again tonight so your in charge of dinner tonight, alright?"
"No problem Ma." I managed to say between bites of my pancakes.
"Have a great first day baby, I'll see you later."
"See ya."
I finished up my pancakes and checked the clock one last time. It was 8:05. Time for school. As I exited our condo complex I saw my best friend Aaliyah at the bus stop. Aaliyah was 5'4 with a caramel complexion. She had light brown eyes and her hair was curly and blonde. We had known eachother since the first grade and we're tight ever since.
Aaliyah and I always waited for each other in the mornings to avoid taking the bus alone. Usually one of us would take forever to get ready so we'd end up being 10-15 minutes late for school.Since we started high school, we had always managed to have the same homeroom class, so our teachers always got some good stories as to why we were late.
"Aaliyah!" I called out to her.
"Yvette! Aw look at you! Looking too cute for the first day girl" She winked at me.
"Girl please, shut up before we miss our bus."
She rolled her eyes at me. We got on the bus and filled eachother in on the gossip we have collected over the last week. It was the usual shit. Couples broke up, hoes got pregnant, niggas got locked up, and bitches got beat up. It was almost becoming predictable. Now we went to West Brooke Hills High School. Our school catered to kids from the wealthy side of West Brooke, like Aaliyah and I. But it also had students from the projects of West Brooke. It was smack in the middle. For the most part the two groups interacted within themselves. But occasionally there would be a fight or beat down of some sort. I stayed away from those types of things. I wasn't one to fight or any of that nonsense.
As Aaliyah and I walked into our first period World Religion class, we spotted our other girls Kiara and Chanel.
"Hey ladies! We saved y'all some seats!" Chanel yelled.
"Well don't you look cute miss thang." Kiara said tugging on my skirt.
"Why thank you" I pretended to flip my hair.
We all started laughing. We continued to exchange stories and catch up on each others lives as we waited for our teacher to start the class.
"Michelle told me there's a new kid, and apparently he's really cute." Chanel told us.
"Oh please, that just means every girl in school is going to be going nuts over a new dick." Aaliyah said rolling her eyes.
" I agree, new kids ain't nothing exciting. Look at the last new kid we got." Kiara motioned to Kevin.
Kevin was a new white boy that came to West Brook last year. Considering there weren't a lot of white kids in this school it was pretty big news. Turned out he was nothing more than a trumpet playing, star wars loving, geek. He wouldn't even come to basketball game or pep rally.
We all nodded in agreement as we saw our teacher walk in the room.
"Good Morning Class. I am Mr. Johnson and I will be your World Religion teacher."
I sighed. This guy was dressed in some skinny trousers, a white dress shirt and a bright red bowtie. What a dork. As Mr Johnson began to speak and introduce the class, everyone immediately zoned out.
"This semester we will be exploring the religions of Janism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity and many more. But before we get into our first religion, I have a question for the class. Who can give me a definition of religion."
Everyone kept their head down and avoided any eye contact with Mr. Johnson, except for Kevin who had his hand high in the air. It was the first day of school, no one wanted to answer any questions or have any deep discussions. This was usually the one day where we could get away with talking all day, and if we did have to answer a question, it would be about what did this summer.
"Anyone else besides the young man in the front?" He asked. "Anyone, anyone at all?"
Mr. Johnson sighed as he gestured for Kevin to give his answer. I liked this class, but this teacher was already boring as hell. It didn't matter anyway, as long as I got a good mark in the class I'd be happy.
Out of blue, Mr. Johnson motioned for Kevin to stop his blabbering and he drew his attention to the doorway. I turned around to see what was distracting my teacher and that's when I saw him.
